Wow, that's awesome! Thanks for the encouragement. This is my second year.
I know one of my roommates next year has the same sort of feelings about partying that I do, so maybe we can pair up and find other people like us (surely there must be more of us!) I know plenty of people in my classes that are really fun to talk/banter with, but they're not the type of people who I'd want to hang out with after school. I'm going to give it another semester--and hopefully things will improve!
Honestly, if it makes you feel any better, it probably isn't just your school. My college was exactly like that - everyone just wanted to drink/drug it up and be stupid; the typical 'high school mentality' was rampant. I couldn't stand it!
Kids are kids for way too long these days, and the ones who are actually responsible are the odd ducks. Figure that one out. x_x
I'm with StirCrazy - just keep on keepin' on, it's all you can do! Just know you always have lots of people to turn to if you just want to talk (or rant! It helps. XD). I hope things get better for you soon. :( *hugs*
Yeah, my school is 60% Greek--most of whom are spoiled rich kids who are only at college so they can take over daddy's business one day. Last I checked, this was a SCHOOL. You're supposed to LEARN, not party. There's some policies at my school that are just....ugh. Like, there is a kid I know who got a full ride scholarship because he was a minority. This kid is BARELY passing, and he got kicked out of his fraternity for SEXUAL ASSAULT. And yet, he still gets his scholarship. How is that fair? I'm sorry, but if you try to rape a girl, I think you need to suspended and have your scholarship revoked.
Yeah, my friend Kristin and I are the responsible ones, and somehow we're "odd." It sucks.
See you should just come here to SIUE :D Although most of my friends at school are the partying type, but me and Elea never really got into that :P I was too busy being a doll noob and she was too busy getting her WoW on lol
( ... )
Oddly enough, you are not the first person to recommend SIUE to me :D Most of my friends (although after they freaking ABANDONED me in St. Louis, I don't know if I can call them that) are the drinking type, but my friend Sarah and I definitely were the type to nerd out.
Aw, thanks! I have met some pretty awesome people at Westminster, I will admit. I believe everything happens for a reason--so I know that whatever happens, wherever I end up going, it was all meant to be :D
Fortunately, money isn't really an issue for us, thank God. My mother has a job that's enough to pay about half of our bills. It's just my dad gets antsy when he doesn't work, and then he loses about 35 pounds (which, at his current weight would leave him looking emaciated). Our biggest issue is insurance--but we're all healthy, which is a bonus.
As soon as I saw that the theme was Dolly Diversity, I knew that Cameron was going to be sitting on my favorite pony.
I'm sosososoooo happy we don't have those dorm things going on for college here. I'm not at all into clubbing and have never even been drunk enough to vomit. Yet, sadly, about 80 percent of the student body seems to think that hanging with your head in the toilet equals having fun. Or something
( ... )
Seriously, I really don't understand why alcohol is such a big deal! Yeah, mixed drinks do taste good, but....I had a friend who was describing a drink that "tasted exactly like Dr. Pepper." Um, then WHY DON'T YOU JUST DRINK A DR. PEPPER!?!?! You know, so you don't have to stumble back to your dorm room?!? Sheesh.
I had a similar situation with a friend--she even told me she drove drunk one night! And then she asked me if I wanted to hang with her one night!! How about not? I have no desire you know, to DIE.
See, this is why I love dolly folk--a Disney marathon sounds ridiculously fun!
