As per Herr Dean's update, the track team will be having our first meet next Saturday. Herr Berwald und I have been running each morning, promptly at six. I feel we have gotten back into the proper mindset of gold winning athletes. I am confident that we will defeat the visiting teams.

This...sock hop, on the other hand, is what I am not altogether prepared for. After the meet, we are to celebrate our inevitable victory by way of a dance. I will be asking Feliciano, of course, to go mit me. I don't believe he understands what is proper attire, however. On more than one occasion he has worn something completely inappropriate for someone of his gender and has not minded. He keeps me on my toes, making sure his wardrobe is acceptable. I fear he will show up in one of those ridiculous Americana poofed out poodle skirts mit eine blouse und bobby socks. His Mutti must not have instilled enough masculine behavior into him when he was a junge.

At the same time, I am not sure what I'm to wear, myself. I have found a number of books detailing the life of American teenagers in the nineteen-fifties at the library. I believe I will need to buy myself a pair of denim jeans for my costume. I have plenty of white undershirts and a black leather jacket to wear. I will wear my hair in the usual fashion.

...I don't feel like I will be wearing a costume as much as I will simply be dressing down. Hm.

On a different note, my classes have yet to prove challenging. I am fashioning a clock in wood shop und the chimes for it in metal shop. We are learning to make crepes in Home Economics, yet I am having difficulties with it. I fear I am too fond of thick pancakes to be able to figure out how to make paper thin ones, and that is all crepes seem to be to me. Thin, unsatisfying pancakes.

Perhaps that is why Herr Bonnefoy is so good in that class. The French seem to be fond of very small portions. I need to think smaller, it seems.

I think for our next run, Herr Berwald und I should take our dogs with us. Kaiser needs to run more, he is starting to look like a wurst.
