IT, anyone? + update

My partner works for the Department of Public Health for the State of MA. His department just let a contracted IT Helpdesk person go and he believes they will be looking to replace his position. He asked me if I knew anyone looking for work in that field...

As far as I know you'd end up being a contractor for the State. I believe this would entail probably decent entry-level pay but minimal to no benefits to speak of. There is always the potential that if you do well there that you could get a permanent position with the State after time.

If you have interest let me know and I can get you in touch with him. He is likely to have more info.

In other news, the Holidays went well. The family seems to be accepting Gary pretty well and my Mom has in particular really come a long way in being able to accept my sexual identity over the last few years. The family went _way_ overboard on gifts. It was ridiculous. The only rationalization I can put on it is that at least I received almost all practical stuff (which I appreciate a great deal).

New Years was fun, but that's two years in a row where I went way too far in the alcohol department. I should know better... I'm not quite as young nor do I have quite the tolerance I used to. Next year I think I'll make an effort to take it easy.

Gary and I are starting to make detailed budgets for ourselves. I think this will be good discipline for me, especially since we're planning to move this spring and will need to pick up a lot of new furniture and stuff when we do.

Lastly, the health saga continues. I've got a couple appointments with specialists this month to take care of one issue and try to figure out another. I'm glad I'm taking care of things but I must say that it messes with my schedule at work more than I'd like. Makes for some awfully long days. Ah well, it must be done and at least work is flexible with my schedule.
