Dinah was trying to figure out the best angle to check on Jaime and Momoko from, without being really really obvious, and still being able to maybe read lips. Also, wishing she'd been able to talk Momoko into calling before this.
"Nope," Priestly said, though admittedly, he wasn't trying very hard. "So I was thinking, like, pink and kind of mod."
He actually meant to find cute potholders for Momoko, yes. It distracted him from being irritated that she never told Jaime she was moving to his city.
Dinah gave him an exasperated look, then turned back to the display. At least for now. "She almost got all pink power ranger furniture. Which, it's her first place, she can get whatever she wants." But holy cow.
"I really hope she's not going to cry--" Man, Momoko was wound up.
"Well, golly," Priestly said, trying, and kind a failing, to keep his irritation at bay, "maybe if she'd actually talked to him before she showed up. . . ."
He shot a glance over. "Man, how'd things get that messed up between them?"
"They're both romantically really insecure and suck at talking." Dinah picked up a really cute ceramic salt shaker and looked a little sad. "Jaime and I never would've dated if I hadn't tackled him in the surf on Spring Break. And then kissed him when we got back. And Momoko flat-out lied to me before that about not having a crush on him. So, you know. Breaking up twice, they're both..." She peered over, then ducked back. "They have no faith, Priestly." It hurt to watch them, jeez.
"I know I'm not one to talk about other people being romantic cowards," that was an understatement, "but it's just so blatantly obvious they're in love with each other. I even knew it in an alternate dimension where I was in love with her."
"You did?" Dinah blinked at him, surprised. "I mean, I was in jail, I missed a few things, but... Other You wasn't worried about that?" She sighed. "Momoko said that she wants him to court her. She doesn't want to put her heart out there if she's just convenient."
"It was kinda one-sided, what with Momoko being brain-whammied, but yeah, other me was definitely aware of it. And at this point, isn't she kind of the opposite of convenient? I mean, moving to his hometown aside."
Dinah peeked back over again and grimaced. "Yeah, kinda. I don't know, I mean... Something's got to give. I just don't know what." She picked up a random kitchen utensil, and held it out. "So, what's this thing do?"
"In Fandom, that's a protective tool for those occasions when the food comes alive and tries to fight back." Priestly smiled. "In the rest of the world, it's a meat tenderizer."
"Aha!" Whackity whackity! Dinah pounded one of the cutting boards a little. "Okay, she definitely needs one of those. And the towels. And... oo, some of those cute jars for holding cookies or sugar or cocoa or stuff. Even if we're putting it all in storage for the next six weeks."
"And, you know, wooden spoons and measuring cups and a spatula and possibly a whisk," Priestly said. ". . . I'm totally overestimating how much actual cooking she'll be doing, aren't I."
"Probably?" Dinah grinned, stood on tip-toe to peek, then ducked back down. "Although, maybe Jaime will come over to cook for her. Heh." She looked around. "Multipurpose, that's what we gotta go for... or whatever you're sure she can't live without." She picked up a couple spatulas, comparing them. "So are you and Dean taking on another hunt any time soon?"
Priestly scanned the racks, then picked out an item triumphantly. "Spoonula! Jaime cooks? I figured if they got back together they could get his mom to feed 'em or something."
"In blue!" Dinah cheered. "And mostly he likes grilling. But some stuff, yeah... Should it be weirder that I know this stuff about him from when we dated?"
"Can you see what they're saying?"
