[Fiddle fiddle fiddle-aha! He puts down the screwdriver and holds out what is, indeed, a
mechanical duck because heck yeah alternate continuity.]
Well, I haven't gotten any closer to figuring out a way out of here, and while I haven't given up, I figured I should probably do some work here. I mean, I've been fixing stuff for the locals, but if any of you guys have stuff that needs fixing, I'd be happy to help! I know I'm just a kid, but I grew up with this kind of thing, so...
[A smile, though it doesn't quite reach his eyes.]
And I can make things like this too. See, when you move it around, it flaps his tail. [Demonstration!] Well, this is pretty basic, but I can do more complicated stuff too. Grandpa would kill me if he thought I was letting my skills dull...
[He laughs sheepishly, though like the smile, his heart's not entirely in it. In fact, there's a melancholy look on his face for a moment, before he smiles lightly-if not sadly.]
... Things are really quiet when you're living by yourself, huh?
[By himself. Eureka and Nirvash aren't here anymore. He's alone-and even though it's been a while already, damn it, it hurts.]
