Oh. That's still a bit confusing because thus far, each episode if each volume we've seen, has been referred to as like 1.2, 2,1, 3,1 but when we see the first episode of vol. 4 (even though it's vol. 4), it will be 4.14 and so on.
Seasons one and two were only one volume each. Season 1 = volume 1, season 2 = voulme 2, season 3 = volume 3 and volume 4. The episodes are 3.15 because it's episode 15 in the 3rd season.
It probably would have been different last year. The first season was the first volume. If I remember correctly, s2 was supposed to have 2 volumes, but the writer's strike cut that idea short.
Episodes are numbered like that in every TV show. The number before the dot denotes the season, and the number after the dot denotes the episode number that season. It's 3.15 because it's the fifteenth episode in the third season of the show. Doesn't matter if they're starting a new volume. Heroes is unique in that aspect.
It's because it stands for Season 3, Episode 15. The volumes don't always coincide with the TV seasons. In my way of looking, I could care less what volume it is. I just want to know the Season number and episode number so I know exactly how many episodes are left this season.
