Sometimes, during the weekend, Jack would wake randomly to find Kate pressed tightly against him, sometimes shivering, sometimes with her fingers wrapped in the blankets, and sometimes her arm around him. But she looked more at peace than Jack had ever seen her since he met her.
He liked to think he might have had something to do with that...even if he couldn't be sure...since he'd really never been around to watch her sleep before. He didn't know if he ever would again...was this weekend a fluke?
He rolled over, stepping out of bed and heading to take a shower. Kate moved towards the dent in the bed where he'd been, snuggling back down in the covers, desperate for more sleep.
Jack showered, shaved a little bit, scowled at his hair. He needed a haircut. He didn't want to be shaggy like Sawyer.
He glanced around the suite as he finished dressing. They'd cleaned the kitchen last night, laughing as they threw soap bubble clusters at each other. Jack grabbed a piece of paper, and wrote a quick note to Kate, and left it on the pillow next to her. Letting her know he was down in the bar...and if she wanted to, she could find him there.
He hoped she would find him. So he could have faith in something more.
He hoped this weekend was only the beginning.
Most of all? He just hoped.
