I was appalled when I read that a friend of mine (my closest internet friend) had a death in her family and then her immediate family came calling for money. I am not saying her name out of respect. But, I think the situation is all too common. The ones who are supposed to mean the most to us are the ones who often forget basic kindness. Money seems to be what most people seek from others. Sure they may not ask for money, but perhaps you have a friend who always has you buy dinner, or a family member who doesn’t remember your birthday but they begin giving you a list and count down a month before theirs. I hate to think that we have as a society built our entire foundation on the dollar. There is so much in this world other then money. There is love, beauty, pain, and the continual pursuit of happiness. I think that we often forget what is really important as we fight to survive in this rat race. It just seems like everyone is always fighting to have enough money to live that we don’t get the opportunity to live. I have recently begun looking at money different. I have none and don’t really care. I am here and that is all that matters. Bills get paid or they don’t. I no longer am afraid of the invisible credit score. It is no longer the God I try to please. So I ask all of you to reconsider how you view money. I beg that you not hold it more important then the ones you love. To give it away freely if you have excess, and if you don’t have it to give don’t feel bad, offer love instead. After all it is worth so much more.
