Although I can be resolute--adamant, even--about some things, the purchasing of books is not one of them.
Having a gift certificate to Amazon, plus my employee discount, doesn't help, either.

For me, part of it is the whole librarian/research archivist thing I've got going on in my head. "Well, are you going to reread it for pleasure and/or want to refer to it at some point for a discussion or to steal a particular brilliant bit that you can rework to make true for your stories? 'Cause if so, just buy the damn thing." Mind, that runs through my head in all of .2 milliseconds and the answer is often "Yes!" But libraries are wonderful and god knows, I've loved all of mine.
But as for Komunyakaa... if you can't wait and you're going to want to have it handy some random midnight, get it. Of course, it's often not until after you've read it that you can make that judgment, so...

Have you watched Deadwood yet? If not, let me know when you do! I've been wanting to watch that. I got it from netflix, but then decided not to start it, because I'm going to re-suspend my membership for a length of time equal to the money I just spent at Amoeba...
