I'm a stalker in a Taurus

Finally saw Broken Flowers Thursday night. I liked it. Nikki liked it, except the ending. But that's the Law & Order fan in her. Jarmusch is really one of the last real independent directors around. Which is why it was so cool that he did a straight-forward film for a subsidiary of a large studio. Bastard. No, I kid. I don't care where my art comes from. As long as it's good.

I wish I had gone to the Homecoming game. I was just so tired all day. Saturday is about my only time to sit around on my arse and do nothing. So I went with that.

I'm starting to get anxiety about Halloween next weekend. I don't know how Nikki and I are going to top or even match last year's costume. For those unaware, we went as the Publisher's Clearing House Prize Patrol. Original idea and executed well, if I don't say so myself. Not sure we can repeat that. And then everyone will hate us or something.

Check this out:

How hilarious is that? (Former) House Majority Leader Tom Delay is grinning ear-to-ear in his mug shot. What a douche. In other Republicans-are-falling-apart news, Harriet Miers is Bush's genius follow-up to John Roberts for the Supreme Court. And by genius I mean politically asinine. For the first time in a long while the president has set himself up for attack from the left AND the right. He nominated some good old Texas crony girl who is certainly not qualified to be among the ultimate judicial authority and is not known to be a slam-dunk social conservative. Yeah, the whole Rove-Plame leak thing isn't distracting these guys at all.

We're up to flippin' W on named storms now. What happens when they run out of letters? Do they go to AA? Will that storm have to named AAron or AArdvark or something? That could work, but BB would be a problem.

The World Series starts tonight. I have absolutely no rooting interest in this one. I guess the 'Stros are underdogs, so I'll go with that. I'm really just rooting for a seven-game series.

That's all I got. I'm out like a Browns first-round draft choice.
