Kirk gets kidnapped by a monster-alien that eats unborn babies.

Spock isn't happy.

Spock smash.

The mission was a simple one, as usual. They were to beam down to the surface in two teams: one comprised mostly of science officers and one comprised of security and...Kirk. No matter how much Spock argued, Kirk wasn't willing to stay onboard.

"I'm pregnant, Spock. Not dying, or whatever it is you think is going on here. I'm bored. I've been cooped up too long and I need to do something interesting for a change," Kirk whined.

Spock's mouth tightened. "I am completely aware that you are not dying, Jim. However, it is my wish that you remain onboard to ensure your safety. If anything should happen to you-"

Kirk cut him off. "Spock! It'll be okay. I promise! We'll just nip down for a short exploratory mission and them beam back up. What could possibly go wrong?"

Without another word, Kirk took his place on the transporter pad and gave a thumbs up to Scotty.

The security team beamed down first, quickly followed by the second group. When Spock arrived, he immediately sought his bondmate. The security team was shouting and scrambling to chase a large alien.

Jim wasn't anywhere to be found.

Spock's hearing picked up the frantic shouts of the security team. "That thing got the Captain! Hurry! Go! Go!"

Spock's heart stuttered at his side. He could just barely see Jim's blond hair over the alien's shoulder. Flailing limbs and a rush of fear through his bond with Jim confirmed what Spock already knew: this alien, whatever it was, had kidnapped Jim.

Spock would kill it.

He was deadly calm as he called for more teams to be sent down. He also requested the presence of Doctor McCoy in the event that...he wouldn't even think of that right now. The important thing was to get to Jim as soon as possible before any harm could come to him or their unborn child.

Adrenaline pumped through Spock's veins as he ran toward the place he saw the alien disappear through the trees. He would find this alien and then he would destroy it. His ancient Vulcan blood boiled as the urge to protect his bondmate took over and pushed Spock to run faster and faster.

He tried to reach out to Jim in his mind and felt a rush of relief and hope when he felt Jim's presence. He got the vague impression of a cave and then a trickle of fear and disgust. Thankfully, Spock now knew to look for a cave. The alien hadn't moved at a much faster pace than a human, but it was fast enough to escape the security officers.

He hoped the alien hadn't gotten that far before Spock chased him down. He could hear the other officers crashing through the trees behind him but he didn't stick around to chat.

Halfway into the forest, Spock spotted a trail. It wouldn't have been visible if a person wasn't looking for it, but Spock saw the signs: broken twigs, flattened vegetation and a slight impression in the ground to suggest the alien often used the trail.

At least it had better be from the alien. Spock's face was grim and his focus was intent upon any sounds he might be able to pick up. He tried to push words of reassurance through the bond. He told Jim he was coming for him. He could still feel fear running rampant through Jim's mind. Spock pushed his pace even harder until he came to a small clearing around the mouth of a cave.

He hid behind a tree and waited to see if the alien was in there. He wasn't disappointed when the alien stepped outside the cave to gather what looked to be wood for a fire. Spock observed it for a moment as he devised a plan to overtake it and save Jim.

The alien was about eight feet tall and covered in what looked to be thick black scales, but he still had a humanoid figure. He hoped this meant he could take him in a fight. A bloody fight.

He heard Jim speaking in his mind, so he knew his bondmate had to be close. "Spock, hurry! I think it wants the baby." Jim was absolutely terrified.

Spock felt rage crash through his body as he roared and attacked the alien. It wasn't able to move fast enough to escape Spock. Though it was much taller than the Vulcan, Spock's strength and drive to protect his bondmate enabled him to do some damage before the alien realized he was under attack.

Spock let loose with a feral growl as he punched, kicked, and used every move he had to subdue the alien. It got a few swipes in with its fingers that had sharp little points at the ends, but Spock didn't even notice as he fell upon the black body and wrapped his hands around its neck.

"You will die for this," Spock hissed through his teeth as he pressed his thumbs deep into the alien's throat.

The alien gurgled but Spock showed no mercy. It was his right to kill anything that threatened Jim, for Jim was his and Spock would destroy anything that tried to hurt him.

He straddled the alien's chest so he could gain better leverage against the thrashing limbs beneath him. There was a large boulder barely noticeable beneath the red soil just under the alien's head, so Spock slammed its head down against it repeatedly until a thick purple slime that must have been its blood smeared across the rock.

Spock did not stop choking the alien until its body stopped moving completely. He heard a primal howl echo through the forest but didn't realize it had come from him.

Just in case he hadn't done the job properly, he removed his phaser from the holster and set it to kill. He stood up and moved a short distance away before shooting the still body.

"Jim? Are you inside the cave?" Spock asked through the bond.

Jim replied instantly "Yes, it took me through a lot of twists and turns, though. I'm in some sort of makeshift cage. Did you make it go away?"

Spock looked down at the bleeding form at his feet. "You could say that," he said with a grim sense of Vulcan pride as he moved to enter the cave.

He used the bond to move closer to Jim until he came to the place where the tunnel opened up into a large natural cavern. Through the dim interior, he managed to locate Jim and ran toward the cage. "Jim! Are you hurt?"

He immediately reached for his comm unit in case he needed to call the Doctor for help, but Jim was standing and looked perfectly fine. "I'm fine, Spock. I just wanna get out of here and get back to the ship. It's nasty in here." His voice was like music to Spock's ears.

He made quick work of the cage door, as it was only made of sturdy wood that was no match for his strength. Jim tumbled out of the cage and into Spock's arms. Jim's reaction to any sort of stress was to crack jokes, so Spock wasn't surprised when he threw his arms around Spock's neck and jumped up into his arms like a damsel in distress. "Oh, Spock! You're my heeeeeerrrrooo!" Jim then pressed his hand against his forehead in an overly dramatic fashion and pretended to swoon.

Spock refused to laugh. "Jim, I will confine you to our quarters for the duration of this pregnancy if you do not cease acting foolishly."

Spock's voice was firm, but Jim could hear the fear beneath his words. "I promise I'll be a good boy," he said before he gave Spock a big sloppy kiss.
