So we go in the city with dad cuz its cheaper than taking the train, and first we just hang at the NY Times building for like a half hour. Mom was getting something and I was lounging on a chair, being very bored. Then we go over to MTV Studios. I wanted to stop by there, in hopes that I could get the timing right and maybe see the guys or something. Mom was trying to get hold of a PR person from MTV about a story she's writing, so that was the perfect excuse to go up there. So she's talking to the security guards, calling around trying to find the right person to talk to.
I'm standing there, looking around, hoping maybe they'll walk by or something. Well they didn't. But guess who I did see? Kid Rock, Carson Daly and Pamela Anderson. *snickers* That was pretty cool. I had turned around and saw Kid Rock, did a double take, then noticed Carson walking next to him. Around them was their entourage thing, and I saw blonde hair, so I assumed that was Pamela Anderson. I don't know who else it would be. So I didn't see NSYNC, but that was neat. We left MTV and went to dinner down in the village. Took us a little bit to find the place, cuz the village is very confusing, but we got there eventually. The place was nice and the food was real good. We had to bolt from the restaurant though because we realized it was 7:40 and the show started at 8:00. We weren't gonna make it if we walked, so we got in a cab and got to the theater, perfect timing.
I had already seen Tick...Tick...BOOM before, but I had loved it and wanted to see it again really bad. So Mom was cool enough to get us tickets. And Joey McIntyre was playing Jonathan, which was weird at first, but he was actually pretty good. He does have a really nice voice, and I thought he did very nicely. The original cast was much better, but still, I had a lot of fun. And I cried of course. Hehe. After it was over, they did their Equity Cares spiel and they were collecting money in the back of the theater. So first we went to the guy who played the friend, and I gave him $1 while Mom showed him her AIDS bracelet. Then we moved over to the girl who played the girlfriend and Mom told her how good she was and showed her the bracelet as well.
So then Mom grins at me and we move to....Joey McIntyre. LoL. So Mom showed him the bracelet too then started chatting with him. I forget what she said exactly, but she was talking to him for at least 2 minutes. I didn't say much, cuz I'm shy and stuff. So I stood there and smiled and whatever. He smiled at me a couple times I think, so that was pretty cool. It's funny, because I loved him in NKOTB when I was 8 years old. And now, 11 years later I meet him. It was strange...hehehe. So then we go back to the NY Times building and we go home.
Wednesday - 11/21
Start out same as before, go into the city with dad again and hang at the NY Times building a little bit before we leave. I'm not in such a great mood though, because Mom made me dress more "conservative" like. We had dinner at 21 Club, which is a very nice restaurant and they have a dress code. So I had to wear my black pants again, but with my white tank top and black jacket. It's the jacket that got me pissed off because I hate wearing that jacket. I bought it like 5 years ago, and its kinda small now. I mean it fits, but it's very restraining. Like, I can't move my arms far and it just makes me feel all uncomfortable.
So I was in a pissy mood because of that. But we go to the 21 Club, and talk to the PR lady who was very nice. She was supposed to eat with us, but she got a cold and left early. But she knows people at MTV so she gave me a list of contacts and stuff. *grins* Heehee. We take a little tour of the wine cellar and stuff, then get seated. Dinner was ok. I like dining, don't get me wrong. It makes me feel privaleged and stuff, and I appreciate it, but it's just not my style. I'm a simple girl, I like simple foods. I'm happy with a diner.
I got lobster for the first time...it was ok. I like it better when its in soup or something. It was too chewy, and didn't have much of a taste to me. But desert was good. So after dinner we went to see Rocky Horror. That was fun because I'd never seen it live before. And Dave Holmes was playing the narrator, so that was really fun. Sebastian Bach played Riff Raff, Terrance Mann played Frank 'N' Futer, Daphne Rubin-Vega played Magenta, Kristen Lee Kelly played Janet...it was a really awesome cast. Mom bought the audience participation bag thing for $10. It was neat, there was all this stuff inside: a boa, confetti, a newspaper, toilet paper, a penlight and playing card. You throw different stuff during different times in the show. So Mom and I got confetti all over us. That was fun. Hehe.
There was this guy in the ensemble, he was soooo cute. I really liked his hair. He had dirty blonde hair (figures), but it was kinda longish and really really curly. It looked reeeeeally cute. Teehee. It was really sweet, because during intermission, some guy proposed to his girlfriend. He was pretending to buy her a t-shirt, but on the back it said something like "Becky Will You Marry Me?" She was all shaking and stuff, it was so cute. So the show was really good. Dave Holmes was a good ad libber, some parts were really funny.
Especially when Janet had to grind on the pole in front of the audience, and right there at crotch level was a little boy. LOL! It was too funny. She was all like, "I'm so sorry about your son. I will pay for the therapy." Then she kinda bent down and said to him, "I'm going to have to exercise now...ok?" Hehehehe...so funny. After the show was over we headed back to Dad's. The parade is tomorrow, so we kept seeing lots of little choral and dance troops from all over the US, getting ready for tomorrow. That was kinda neat. I have a little more to say, but I'll write that later because I'm exhausted and Dad wants to get online now. G'night! Happy Turkey Day! *falls asleep*
