I know I said it before, but The Clarks concert was seriously the most perfect concert ever. When I used to envision a concert, it was pretty much the exact concert I went to last night. I'm gonna cut this now because it's gonna be really long I'm sure. Read about mine and
nycjessa's adventure at your own risk! :Þ
So I took the train into the city and managed to find the right subway station that has F and V trains. So Jess' directions were perfect and I found my way there without a sweat. We met oustide Burger King and we first tried to get our tickets but the tiny lil box office wasn't open yet. But the big red tour bus was right outside so that was pretty cool. And there was a guy with shoulder length hair outside the bus on a cell phone, and when we looked at the Clarks poster we realized he was in the group...lol! We didn't say anything though. We hung around in BK for a bit and then went to this Bazaar across the street to kill some time. But the show started at 7:30 and it was around 7ish so we headed back over to the Village Underground.
There was a lady in the box office this time and I asked if we could get our tickets and she said in this surly voice, "Get on line." Me and Jess looked at each other and said that there wasn't a line. So she goes, "Make one." So we went outside and kinda made a line and after a bit we went inside to get our tickets. There was a slight mix-up at first because I ordered them from The Clarks Online and not from Ticketmaster or something. But we got our tickets and it was all good.
We went downstairs and it was really really nice! There was a teeny stage and a bar in the back and on the floor were these almost bench type seats with tables so me and Jess snagged one of those. We had to order a drink so we got sodas, and they were frigging $3.25 each! At BK we could have gotten a soda twice that size for $2 but whatever. The first opening act was Heath Brandon and he was pretty cool. He played a guitar and sang these jazzy type songs I think. His voice kinda reminded me of Boz Scaggs, but he was a young guy. And he was cute too. The next opener was Ari Hest and he was good too. He had a bassist, Darryl. And they were really good. They were more rocky and upbeat. Heath was more mellow, but I enjoyed both of them a lot. It was funny because Darryl was totally grooving to Ari as they were playing. It was funny...heehee.
And then it was time for The Clarks! Everyone started getting up and standing around and I was a lil reluctant to get up at first because I didn't want to lose our seats. But then I was like, there's no way I was gonna be able to sit still when they started so we got up and got pretty damn close to the stage. I mean, the place is small and intimate so if you said that there were rows, we were in the second row. Granted we were behind these 3 really drunk and obnoxious (and two of them were really tall) guys, but it was kinda amusing. There was this girl in front and next to us who touched something of the band's and she started hyperventilating practically. Imagine a 30-something Nsync teenybopper and you have this woman...lmao.
So then they came out and everyone went nuts and me and Jess were seriously like, 5 feet from them. It was so so awesome. They opened with "Superstar" and it was just amazing. The songs they did (in no particular order) are: Better Off Without You, Chasin Girls, Cigarette, I'm A Fool, Kiss, Think Of England, Maybe, All The Things I Wanted, On Saturday, Superstar, Hey You, Boys Lie, This Old House, Inside You, Love Is What You Need, Snowman, Born Too Late and Butterflies And Airplanes.
The whole show was so so amazing. And I was so stoked because I knew every song that they played! I was kinda afraid that I wouldn't know some of them, but I did! I knew all the songs they played and I knew the words to half of them! It was so so so much fun. And they went into "Hey You" from "Born Too Late" so that made my night...heehee! I was right in front of Rob and there were a couple times where I think we kinda had eye contact or something. It was neat. He was funny, he kept hopping in the air with some songs. And Scott was in front of me and to the right a bit so I could see him pretty well too. The only problem was there were those 3 guys in front of us who were really annoying. Especially when they practically elbowed me in the face and stepped back on my toes and blocked my view and stuff. But it was okie. I don't pride myself on being a good dancer or anything, but I was bopping my socks off. It was so awesome. Did I say that already?
Anyway they ended with "Boys Lie" and then they left the stage. Me and Jess went upstairs and she got some cds and we snagged some bumper stickers. We were on our way out and I said how I wanted the poster that was hanging on the wall. So Jess looks around and takes them both down! LOL! So we have our stolen Clarks posters and we stood around outside for a few minutes in hopes that they'd come out...and they did! Well, half of them.
The bassist, Greg came out first and Jess pounced on him and he signed our stolen posters and he was really nice and stuff. And we waited some more but Jess had to go soon because her train was gonna come. So she rolled up her poster so we could go and the minute she rolled it up I saw Scott come out so I started going, "Unroll it. Unroll it. Unroll it." So then Scott comes out and she pounces again and he signs our posters and he was really nice too. Jess told him it was our first concert and he asked where we were from and how we found out about them, so I said that a friend from Pittsburgh that got me into them. And Scott seemed pleased by that and went, "Oh word of mouth!" We prolly would have been able to talk to him a lil longer if this other girl hadn't butted in. But we had to go get our trains anyway. So next time I see a concert I'll have to bring my poster so Rob and David can sign it...heehee. But 2/4 isn't bad!
After that we went back to Penn Station and took our respective trains to go home. But seriously the concert was so so awesome. I can't even say what I liked best because it was so amazing. And now I know their names and what they look like! Woohoo! I definitely have to keep tabs on them now for when they come back to NY. But I most definitely have to see them with
orladom_rouge at least one time...heehee. My this turned out really long. Sorry for that, but I'm just so happy! =]
In other news, Ben graduated today and that was nice enough. It was hot as hell out there but I was very proud of him and all that. I kinda screeched when he got called up. It was silly but oh well. It was odd seeing people I knew but I managed to avoid awkward conversations so that was good. I did talk to Jake Joseph who graduated with Ben, so that was nice. He was always a nice kid, I liked Jake. It was weird being back inside Glenn. I think that was the first time I'd actually been back inside the school since I graduated. And now I never have to do that again!! Woohoo!! No more Glenn! No more Glenn! *happy dance*
