Last night I went to see a concert with John. The chick's name is Alana Davis and I'd never heard of her before, but I really like her now. He asked me if I wanted to go Sunday night, and I listened to some of her music that he had, and dug the sound. She sounds kind of like a cross between Norah Jones, Joss Stone and Anna Nalick. I really like her. She's got a wonderful voice. Very unique and melodic and rich.

The concert was at The Troubadour, which I'd been at bfeore to see The Clarks about a year ago. It's a fun funky lil club. There were 3 openers, and then Alana. The first guy was ok. He had a cold, but he still sounded ok. I just wasn't that into him. The second guy, Julian Coryell, was pretty good. The first song he sang was just him on a keyboard, and it was really pretty. Then a couple more band members came out and they played some more upbeat stuff. I dug him. Third opener was decent, but I wasn't head over heels for him.

Then Alana came out and she was awesome! It was just her and an acoustic guitar. It was so relaxed and groovy and her voice is just gorgeous and it was so fun. She's real cute too, all giggly and laid back. I felt bad though, because there were people at the bar being real rowdy and she couldn't drown them out like the other bands, since it was just her and her guitar. She went off on them at one point, which was awesome. Because they were being damn rude. It's not a bar, it's a concert. Just because there is a bar there, doesn't mean you can talk as loud as you want.

It was a real fun night though. I had a lot of fun with the music and hanging out with John. He's a good person to see a concert with. And plus I always have fun with him. We had some ridiculously silly things going. It was awesome. I have to give him some Clarks mp3s so he can give them a listen. I said if they come back to LA anytime soon, he should come with me. It was a fun night, but I'm wiped today. I need coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.
