So yesterday work I made a last minute attempt to find some people to see a movie with. I was opting for "Amityville Horror'" in the dome, or else "Kung Fu Hustle" or "Sin City" a second time. Alas, there were no takers. Some had other plans, some were under the weather, and most didn't respond. But Jason emailed me back saying that some other people were getting together to see "Sahara" in Westwood, and I was more than welcome to come.
I waited a bit longer to see if anyone took my movie offer, and no one did so I switched sides. I got a ticket for "Sahara" online and J said he'd pick me up at 7:30, since we live about 5 minutes from each other. First everyone was getting dinner at a burger joint, so we met up with everyone there.
It was fun, because I got to hang out a bit with some of the people I don't normally hang out with. I was with J, Kirsten, Steve, Matt and Kenchy. Most of them I only see at parties, except J. It was really fun though, and they're fun to hang with. Dinner was really good. It's been a while since I had a crazy hamburger, and it was very good. I'll have to take Ben to this place when he's in town. After dinner we hopped back in our cars and went to the theater via $1 cookies.
There's this cookie place in Westwood that has 3 for $1 cookies and they're really good apparently. I didn't get any, but I bought J's cookies for him because he drove and paid for the parking. Then we went to the theater and chatted a bit until the previews got underway.
The movie was surprisingly good. It was cheesy at times, but a friend said that if you go into it knowing it's going to be cheesy at times, then it's much more fun. J said it well, in that it's like a Universal ride. It's goofy and cheesy at times, but the ride is fun anyway. And Steve Zahn totally saved the movie. It wouldn't have been anything close to what it was if he wasn't in it. Just reaffirms my love for him. Mmmm...Steve Zahn. Looking pretty buff I might say.
So it was a last minute thing, but it was a really great night. I'm glad I sent out that email. Things didn't go how I'd planned, but I think they were even better. =]
