Weekend activities

Jan 17, 2005 00:15

I actually had a busy weekend now that I think about it. Thursday was a family dinner at Yang Chow's, which was quite enjoyable indeed. It was really nice to see Allan, Linda and Alex out here. And it was weird for me to be considered the West Coaster and they the East Coasters, because that's usually reversed. Funny how things change.

Friday night I went to Hollywood to meet someone from "Palette Of Madness" that I bought a painting from. This person painted the main painting in the film, but she'd also done an "incomplete" version that I really really liked. So I asked if I could buy it and she was more than happy about that. It's the first piece of art I ever bought. I got a good price too. I felt a lil bad paying slightly more than half what she wanted, but I told her I couldn't afford that much. And she took my offer, so I can't really feel all that bad. It's kind of haunting and a lil creepy when it's night, but I love it.

After that, Jed and I went to see "Sideways" at the ArcLight. We had an hour to kill before it started so we got a drink at the bar and chatted. That was nice. And the movie was enjoyable as well. I really liked it. Though I'm still having doubts about whether I like Jed, and whether he likes me. Still feels friendly from all angles to me. *shrug*

Saturday I hung around and watched some TV. That night was Missy and Melinda's birthday party, but alas I had to leave at midnight because we were shooting this morning. Kinda disappointing to have to leave early, but it was a pretty laid back party so I'm not sure that I really missed anything major. And besides, we have Ryan's birthday party this coming Saturday, and Superbowl in 2 weeks. There will be many more parties in a very short period of time. Heh heh heh.

This morning we shot from 7-noon and it wasn't too bad. Only a handful of crew and actors so it was much smoother than the last time. Peter was there, but only for like half of the shoot. We might be shooting more on Friday, might not. We won't know until Tuesday when we can shoot, and I'm still waiting to hear from Trailer Park. Though, I'm sad to say, that if I didn't hear from them on Friday, I'm less confident that I got the job. Of course it's possible they were interviewing up to and including Friday, and they won't have a decision until tomorrow or Tuesday, but I somehow doubt it. I really thought I had a shot at that job. *sigh*

After shooting I came home and helped Vic and Jason build a submarine. ....... Yes, you read that right. Long story short, Jason's next film requires a submarine, so Vic and he concoted a "submarine" to use for filming. I helped a lil bit here and there. Mainly I just hung out, watching them and chatting. It was fun. Then I helped Jason film a tail end warning for "Steve Saves LA." Wheelio Estevez was the star of it! It was silly and fun. I hope it gets added onto a Special Edition DVD later.

A couple hours later I headed over to Jason's apartment to go see "Pirates Of The Carribbean" with him and Ky at the El Captain Theatre in Hollywood. That was wicked fun. Jason bought me and Ky ice cream beforehand, and then we went to see the movie. It was pretty empty, and they were showing extras from the DVD as a preshow on the big screen. The movie was fabulous of course. Jason's great to hang out with, and Ky is really cool too. I think other than shoe shopping with Brandy, this was the first time I hung out with Emerson people without my other housemates. It's nice to be invited to stuff and hang out with people without them sometimes. Kinda reinforces the idea that I can hold my own in the group now. I don't need to rely on my housemates for everything, y'know?

I thought my sinuses were acting up, but I'm very sniffly and a lil sneezy. Hopefully it's partially because I've been up since 6am and I'm tired. I don't want to get sick. Tomorrow is a long sleeping lazy day.
