Yay poker!

Tonight was extremely fun. I went over to Adrienne's for dinner and saw a lot of relatives. Ethan is still in town, and Allan, Linda and Alex are in LA for a wedding, so they were here too. Plus me, Adrienne, BJ, David, Mirim, Robert, Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop. So it was a full house. But it was very enjoyable. Dinner was delicious, and then we got a poker game going. I had called BJ yesterday to see if he was gonna bring his stuff, and he did. He brought his chips and his table, so it was a proper game and everything.

At the table was me, BJ, Ethan, Robert, Alex and Allan played also. The buy-in was $5 so it was nothing crazy. We played for 30-45 minutes before Ethan was first out. Then Alex was out, and Allan. Robert was surprisingly the chip leader and he knocked all three of them out. I was short stacked and it looked like I was next out. But then Robert put me all in when I had Ace/9 with an Ace on the board. After deliberating for a long few minutes, I called him. He had pocket 9's, but I had the Ace and it held up. So I doubled up there and it was the turning point of the game.

From then on, me and BJ kept chipping away at Robert's stack. My favorite hand was when I had 9/5, there was Queen/Ace/Ace on the board, Robert checked, BJ folded and I immediately went all in. I had a little over $10 at that point, so it was a very big bluff. My reasoning for this move, was that if Robert had an Ace or Queen, he would have bet. It was a huge bet to call and I was pretty confident that he would think I'd have an Ace or Queen and would fold. I got very nervous because at one point it looked like he might call. But he didn't, he folded. I was very proud of myself.

There were a few more hands and BJ kept taking big chunks out of Bobert. Finally Bobert went all in and BJ finished him off. Bobby was not too happy. He'd been gloating and cocky all night and he did not taking losing lightly. His main problem was that he was calling everything because he had the chips. I think that and his cockiness were his downfall. That was around 11:00 and BJ and I decided to cash out then because it was late and I have to be up at 6am to shoot tomorrow.

But I came out with $11, so I was $6 up. Not too shabby! I have to be up at 6am to be at the Old Griffith Zoo at 7am for shooting. Though if it starts raining heavily again, we won't shoot in the morning. Part of me hopes it does rain so I can go back to sleep, but that's kinda mean...lol. I'll be sluggish and tired, but it should be fun tomorrow. G'night!

family, poker
