Back to normal!

So I slept until 9:30 this morning before BKM and it was glorious. It was nice being back at BKM with only 2 people to interact with, and doing tasks that felt more meaningful than buying bagels and making coffee for 30 people. Don't get me wrong, I had a lot of fun and learned a lot on the set. But my specific job just wasn't that gratifying. They warned me of that though, and I accepted it for the greater good of learning by observing and meeting people and making contacts, which seems to be working.

At BKM, John said they are very happy I'm back, and that they missed me, and John even asked if I was going to leave them, and he looked kinda worried when he asked. I said no, because I don't plan on leaving anytime soon. I've worked there a little more than a month, I think I'll give it until December before I start really getting on their case about hiring me. I enjoy the work and I enjoy the experience, but I can't work for free forever. If they aren't going to hire me relatively soon, I have to start looking for someone who will. The fact of the matter is that I want to stay in LA and I need to be paid to do so. I'd rather it be at BKM, but that'll be their call eventually. But let's not worry about that now.

Instead, let's look at the positive work I did today. I mentioned a couple days ago how I had told Alfonso about BKM and how he was looking for management. Well, I talked to John and then we talked to Barry and Barry said he'd love to meet Alfonso. So I called Alfonso and set up a meeting with him and Barry on Friday morning! It doesn't mean that Barry will take him on, but basically I've opened a door for Alfonso, however small the crack may be. I may not get anything out of it, but Alfonso will surely appreciate my going to bat for him, and Barry may look at me in a new light, as someone who can work with people, not just papers. I really hope the meeting goes well on Friday. I plan to go in a bit earlier than normal, just to be sure I'll be there when Alfonso comes in for his meeting. I'm so excited, you'd think it was my meeting!

I love how when it rains, it pours. I hardly ever have plans or anything, but of course this Thursday is the night Ken is coming to LA for dinner with the family, and it's also the night of the wrap party. Figures, right? I think dinner will be at 6ish, so hopefully I'll get to the party a little late, but still able to enjoy hanging out with TTN people. Sunday there's a sports party here, where Vic is having a bunch of TVs with different sports going on, and we're gonna barbeque. Should also be fun. I love parties at our house...I don't have to worry about drinking and driving! Hehehe.

I randomly took one of my Trout Fishing In America CDs to work today, to listen to in the car on the way over there. I forgot how much I enjoy them. They're kinda random, but the songs are really mellow and the lyrics and melodies are great. Only problem is that the CD is like, 10 years old so it's skipping a hell of a lot. I actually went on the Best Buy site to see if the CD even showed up. It did, but it says it's sold out. I imagine it's not actually sold out, just that they don't get a lot of call for Trout Fishing In America, "Truth Is Stranger Than Fishin'" CDs. It's annoying because I hear snippets of the songs before they start skipping, and I want to hear the whole song but I can't. Grrr!

Also annoying is when your skin is dry and flaky, but it's also breaking out at the same time. That's always fun to deal with.

family, workin' 9 to 5, music
