Hope is on the way

Well, I had planned to vote for John Kerry before, simply because he wasn't Bush. But after hearing Kerry's speech tonight, I am seriously excited for this upcoming election. If we can get Bush out of office, I really think Kerry will do wonders for our country. The key though, is getting to all the college students out there. There are so many college students who are just lazy and don't regsister to vote, or don't know how to go vote once they register, or who don't care, or who think they don't make a difference. That's just not true at all. All those college kids who sit in their dorms and think to themselves, "Oh well, it's not like my vote mattered anyway" are just wrong. I almost wish I was still in college so I could get active at IC and get the college kids to get off their ass and go vote. I did when I was a Freshmen. I cut class to do it. If only there'd been more of us willing to cut class to vote, maybe the last 4 years would have been different. I'm rambling, but seriously for the first time since Bush was "elected" I feel really hopeful about America's future.

As for my future, it seems to be NYC vs. LA at this point, with LA leading. NYC gets points for being closer, and because I have a potential roommate to live with. But LA gets points for there being an actual job opportunity, and for my family being there to help me out. LA loses some points though, because the job is an internship and it'd be a gamble at first. But a gamble might be better than sitting on my ass on LI, waiting for something better to come along. Maybe I'll lose some money at first, but it may end up being an investment in my future career. Who knows? I'm just speculating right now. But unless I get a better offer in NYC by mid-late August, I'm gonna be heading West. Kinda scary, kinda exciting. But it's something.

The house-sitting thing starts on Sunday, which should be fun I think. They've got a whirlpool bathtub that looks really relaxing and comfy, a small but really nice pool with a small waterfall, a computer I can use, and DVDs I can watch. I can sit outside on the porch if it's cool, or if it's hot I can turn on the central air and there's a cute nook with a couch and a window that looks perfect for reading. If I had a laptop it'd be perfect to get some work done on my scripts. But maybe I'll do some actual hand writing (gasp!) instead. And they have 2 kitties that will want to be petted and played with, so they'll keep me company while I'm there. And my parents' house is only 5 blocks away so I can walk back and forth whenever I feel like. Oh, and I am getting paid for it. I don't know how much, but I don't really care how much, as long as it's something.

My back killed all yesterday, and it's still a lil sore but better than before. We figured it was a pulled muscle from all the lifting and stuff. Hopefully tomorrow it'll be gone. "The Village" comes out tomorrow, which my dad and I are extremely excited for. We're gonna see it together Saturday. I'm not sure if the whole family is going or not, but my dad and I definitely are. We love M. Night. Woo!
