Having spent the last ten days in the Netherlands, I feel as though I can move to Germany without wishing I was in Groningen the whole time. As a result of this and the end of my denial, I booked my flight last night. I'm going out earlier than the conference to try and find lodgings, and am flying from Manchester on September 3rd. That's thirteen whole days. But it's put other things in motion and I've seriously started looking for accommodation and have requested a bed in Geesthacht's youth hostel. There's still a load of things left to organise, but I'll get them done. Or nearly all of them.

I'm starting to consider my project, too. Since Literature is my area of choice, I'm going to base it on that. I'm thinking the presentation of Schleswig Holstein's cultural traditions in literature? Or since I'm close to Hamburg, maybe I'll involve writers from there, too. It's all very vague, but at least it's something.

german, year abroad, nederland
