It's Hot and Thats Lame

I have never done well with heat. Chicago used to torture me with oppressive humidity in the summer despite winters that often reached below zero. Flagstaff was the only place I looked forward to summer with summers that never went above 80 F and almost no humidity. It was the only place that I have ever lived without air conditioning and was ok with it. Phoenix on the other hand, two hours south and 6,000ft lower was a different story.

Sure it is a dry heat down there, but its still 125 F fuck you very much.

Today in Pohang it is 90 F and Humid as hell, according to the weather channel. Not an easy feat when you have most forgot what humidity was, or when NONE of your classrooms have AC. Also the first week of real heat does a number on me and suck out my energy and a sizable portion of my will to live.

Today we are on an abrieviated schedule to "beat the heat" (oh how pleased my boss was with myself upon showing off that idiom). Classes are down to 40 mins and we might get out at or around 2pm (as opposed to 4:00). All of this made possible by the conclusion of final exams. So being mindful of the dire heat and the expected attention span of students who are hot, finished with exams, and would rather be playing computer games I am going to play a power point version of family feud which seems to be overwhelmingly popular.

That picture is meant as a segway into the lastest book that I finished. I finally got around to reading Wicked by Gregory Maguire and I loved it. However, i did feel lik eI was missing out on something seeing that I have not seen the movie for over 15 years and only found out that it was all based off a book last week. I have a special love for books that seek to tell a classic tale from the point of view from who we traditionally called the villian.
