I just installed an aftermarket heatsink for the first time. Took more time than installing the stock Intel heatsink, but on balance I think it was actually easier and less stressful because I didn't worry as much about breaking the motherboard. I did get anxious about the thermal compound, but hey, I figure the anxiety has to go somewhere, right?
Also, this heatsink is the size of a small city. The inside of my case looks seriously impressive.
And now it's late and I'm tired and I'll start making dumb mistakes if I keep going, so -- I'm going to button up the case for the night and resume in the morning.
