truepenny called this afternoon to tell me that she'd successfully turned-in-by-proxy the thesis and paperwork, and to be the first to congratulate me on the official completion of my degree. (In return, I am spending Saturday reading the latest draft of The Virtu and having helpful thoughts about it.) She got my answering machine when she called, because I was teaching.
Which I think is pretty much exactly right.
Thanks to all of you who, at various milestones and crisis points, congratulated, encouraged, pep-talked, and took for granted that I could do this. It helped - it really, really helped - to know that I had people cheering me on. Thank you.
