words and deeds

Today has been full of good things, including the sense of achievement accompanying the completion of various errands, a bookstore trip, a delectable mango chicken coconut spinach salad (with tamarind vinaigrette!) that I had at a new restaurant I checked out with truepenny, a meeting that did not suck, an officemate I genuinely like, a classroom full of oh ( Read more... )

food, good things, chaos

I can't really complain, as you seem to be having a lot of fun with your life lately. Sometimes it's fine to be away from the damned computer, you know. Why not relax and enjoy the autumn harvest?

Though I will admit to missing you.

What Laura said. Both parts.

I vote for the romance novel discussion, too. But I'm suspecting your brain isn't a democracy.

My brain vacillates between fascism and anarchy, I'm afraid.

I don't know how often I'll be able to post in the coming weeks, which is exactly why I want my posts to be substantive. Or at least more substantive than "I hate dissertating pity me whine whine whine." There's just no *challenge* there. *g*

I just want my posts to be substantive so people will like me. But we all know I have issues.

I wouldn't mind an occasional unchallenging "I hate dissertating" whine to let us know you're still alive and haven't been crushed to death by a pile of reference books.

Also, I ordered saag paneer from the local Indian restaurant last week. Yours was better.

Did they make it too mushy? I'm always so disappointed when they get it too mushy, with the spinachy too pureed and the cheese too soft.

Not that I have strong opinions about my food or anything.

No, I just liked the cheese you used better -- it had more of a bite. This was too bland. The spinach was shredded to an appropriate amount, I think.

Well, the cheese *is* bland. Which is why I put cayenne and garam masala all over it. *g*

I miss you too! And there has been some fun of late, although mostly it's been stress and chaos (related to dissertation and job search respectively) and not enough relaxation. I love teaching, but it's not exactly relaxing. *g*
