Today has been full of good things, including the sense of achievement accompanying the completion of various errands, a bookstore trip, a delectable mango chicken coconut spinach salad (with tamarind vinaigrette!) that I had at a new restaurant I checked out with
truepenny, a meeting that did not suck, an officemate I genuinely like, a classroom full of oh-my-god-they're-so-smart-I-love-them students, five kinds of heirloom tomatoes and three kinds of hot chili pepper, two of my favorite curries, a really good poetry reading, and the acquisition of two gallons of milk (milk!).
All of which put me in a sufficiently expansive frame of mind that I could come home, open my folder of LJ posts-in-progress, observe that it has 27 items in it (and that's not even counting all the Farscape eps for which I haven't finished writing up my notes), and laugh at myself rather than feeling oppressed by my own inability to follow through on anything that isn't teaching or vidding.
Posts in progress range from my notes on the best CDs I got in 2003 to cookbook recommendations to analysis of Firefly as anti-western to what I like and dislike about romance novels to notes on envy to rants about voting, minority retention in universities, (lack of) state funding for higher education, and the RIAA.
Like Willow, I have too many thoughts.
On the other hand, I have not quite enough tomatoes. Surely that balances out somehow.
