consolations

Thanks to all who offered sympathy about the job yesterday.

Better news today: a different job, which I mentioned a while back (in a locked post, because it involved news that was not mine to make public) came through today. Huge relief - it hasn't been at all clear that the funding would be available for the position, so while I knew that ( Read more... )

I've been working in our school's writing lab for 4 years, and I've always loved our undergrad tutors (well, there have been a few I haven't loved quite as much, but on the whole...).

I hope it all works out for the best. (And I hope that I can get the Writing Lab Newsletter database launched by the fall, so that it's easier for tutors-in-training everywhere to work on research projects... :)

Hey! Writing Lab Newsletter! I was supposed to write something for that this spring but MH and I never worked out what exactly it should be and so it didn't get done. Oopsie.

They always need articles! And the Fearless Editor has been rather busy this spring (she had surgery in December and is having surgery again in June), so she hasn't been able to browbeatencourage people to write as much as she normally does.

Oh dear -- I knew about the December surgery, but not the upcoming. No wonder she's been out of touch. I should probably just write something up and send it along. In my copious free time. Heh.

Well, the December surgery went really well, so this is just follow-up surgery to continue the process. (She had both hips replaced after years of constant pain and several unsuccessful surgeries, and now they are attempting to correct some knee problems since she did well with the hip surgery. She's pretty open about it in person, so I am not sharing anything that isn't common knowledge.) But when I saw her a month ago, it was the first time I'd seen her walking without wincing in years. So ultimately she will be around to edit for many years to come, so you should send her stuff at some point. :)
