Scattered supplies (aimed at Lelouch, open to anyone)

It was shaping up to be one of those days for Light. He hadn't heard that his first class was canceled until he got there, then his partner for a project hadn't completed her portion of the work and they'd ended up having a debate about Kira in his ethics class. It would have been easy, and a little suspicious, to simply not participate in the last ( Read more... )

Lelouch was walking back from one of his classes when he saw someone slip and fall out of the corner of his eye. He looked back, and found that it was Light. His eyes widened in concern, and he walked over to help Light pick up his things and stand.

The first thing he touched, fate would have it, was that black notebook--the one that Light wrote in often. Lelouch had just assumed that it was very personal.

He stood up slowly and reached for his things. When he saw Lelouch grab the Death Note, his eyes went wide. Ryuk was about five feet away from him, laughing at Light's mishap on the ice. Now that his...friend could see the shinigami, he was worried.

Don't open it or I'll have to kill you....

"Can I have that notebook back, please?" he asked, trying not to sound like it bothered him to have someone else holding it.

"Of course."

As Lelouch reached out with his hand to give the notebook to Light, he saw a rather--macabre was the only way he could describe it--figure flying behind Yagami.

His eyes widened a bit...what the hell was that thing?

He took the Death Note back and started to pick up the rest of his things. Lelouch could see Ryuk now, of course. And it made more sense to say something about the new being in the area first. Less suspicious.

"That's Ryuk. He's a shinigami."

Reno, again having nearly zero motivation to attend class, had spent the day holed up in his dorm room- at least he'd been looking at his course materials instead of simply slacking around this time. He'd made some headway in memorizing the various definitions and techniques he and his classmates had been assigned, and decided it was about time for a cigarette break.

He grabbed his coat and headed outside, finding a place to light up just as he caught something going on with Light out of the corner of his eye. Snapping a few discreet photographs and a short video of the exchange between Light and someone he didn't know, Reno slowly smoked and tried to remain as inconspicuous as he possibly could.

He'd make sure Watari paid well for this bit of information.

"A shinigami?" Lelouch asked Light. He noticed the red head starting up a cigarette, and had to wonder if it was coincidence. He'd just use the Geass to get that information later, though.

Lelouch hadn't ever heard the word "shinigami" in his life, so had no clue what they were supposed to do. This one seemed to even be smiling at him...it was really quite creepy.

Light noticed someone else in the distance, but didn't pay much attention to him. Lelouch was worth more of his time right now. "A god of death. I can't tell you anything else, it's connected to the investigation my father's working on." It was a truthful reason for not volunteering information.

Reno felt the cold starting to get to him, so he pulled out his flask and took a drink- he figured the whiskey would do enough to keep him warm as he watched. This information was too important (and expensive) to keep from Watari, and he figured his new information would interest Rufus enough to detract from his chronic absence from his classes. In fact, he was sure Rufus would be far more enthralled with the idea of Light's notebook and the "shinigami" than any meal he'd ever be able to make.

What the fuck is up with that notebook? Rufus would be shitty if I didn't learn more about it- I should just grab it for him.

Yep, I think I interrupted something, Reno thought, nodding at the pair before stepping back to make what sounded like a casual phone call. However, he was having a completely real-sounding conversation (at least on his end) with the automated service that tells the time and temperature- as long as he could let them talk with minimal interruption from now on, he figured he was likely to come up with even more useful information.

After ending his first "call", he called a few friends from back in Midgar and sat on a nearby bench to talk.

Lelouch watched Reno, then got a terrible idea. A horrible, awful, wonderful idea. When Reno wasn't looking, he gave Light a psychotic grin, then (quite loudly) shouted "I'll show you the jealous type!" and grabbed Light by the ear, promptly dragging him off and out of sight of the red-head--making sure to put enough force into it that Light would squeal if not paying close attention.

The grin caught him by surprise, but it didn't make him nervous. Light yelped as Lelouch grabbed his ear. "Well, I guess one of us had to turn into the bitch of the relationship," he said just as loudly as he quickly walked to keep up with the pace his friend was setting. Where was he being taken?
