List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words*, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LiveJournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.
"Holding Out for a Hero" by FrouFrou - this is the version played during the end titles of "Shrek 2." I just love the beat, it makes me want to bop along with it. Plus, who's NOT holding out for a hero, right? ;)
"Vamos a Bailar" by the Gipsy Kings - this is my favourite "stuck in hellish Bay Area traffic" song, because I simply can't listen to it without ending up in a better mood. Even stuck in traffic (one of my most hated situations), I just want to sing and dance along with it. I'm sure I look like a loon to all the other drivers, shaking my fists in the air and beating on the steering wheel, but it beats road rage any day. :D
"The Rover" by Led Zeppelin - my favourite Led Zeppelin song, this one still has the power to bring tears to my eyes. It's so sad, yet beautiful. It epitomizes the yearning sorts of feelings that Led Zeppelin brought out in me as a teenager, and there's something very appealing about it to this day.
"Ihr habt nun Traurigkeit" from Johannes Brahms' "Ein Deutsches Requiem" - so gorgeous, there's a part near the end which is almost painfully beautiful, as the soprano descends over the chorus. I love this aria, and love to sing it. The subject matter is very touching, too.
"The Old Ways" by Loreena McKennitt - another haunting, yearning sort of song. I love the "song" part of it, but equally as good is the instrumental section at the beginning, Celtic-style violin over drums which has an awesome dance rhythm - it makes me want to spin and spin and spin.
"Revelations" by Iron Maiden. Another long-time favourite, this song has SUCH a great beat and melody, and I love the apocalyptic lyrics. Actually, a good portion of the lyrics aren't original, but they're from the English Hymnal by G.K. Chesterton.
"I Hope You Dance" by LeeAnn Womak - Another song I love to sing (and one of my karaoke stand-bys). It's a lovely, inspirational message, something I have no trouble dedicating to just about anyone I care about (well, I think I'd dedicate it to anyone, really).
*Just to nit-pick, but if it doesn't have words, technically is ISN'T a song. By definition. Just saying. Not trying to come down too hard on whomever wrote this meme, but *ahem* yeah. A song has to have words. Trust me. It was drilled into me by Dr. Barton at IUSB. ;)
