the devil is in the details

While it's fallacious to say that what Leila does best is shopping, it is definitely something she's had a lot of practice at and thus can do in a reasonably efficient manner. So, on their weekend trip to New York to get a few things scheduled before Solomon's imminent divorce and then their departure to Singapore for the next six months, she has a plan. It's one she details to Solomon as they walk the short city block to Kleinfeld's Bridal, tossing her dark hair over her shoulder and ignoring the street noise and passerby.

"I hope you don't mind our coming here first, but you have to admit the bridal gown is sort of the key puzzle piece here. It's a nice place, though- they'll give us champagne," of which she approves enormously, "and generally keep you entertained while I'm being laced into endless corsets--and I hope you're prepared to give me some opinions. Are you nervous?"

Leila actually is, a bit, which may be obvious to Solomon alone, because she only acquires this kind of polish when she's unsteady on her feet or unsure. She has a nominal idea of what she wants, but she hasn't tried on any dresses yet, and ideally she will find The One to go with The Husband here at this store. She never thought she'd care this much, but when it's something she sort of regarded as being too good for her, this whole marriage ordeal- it's very, very important she gets it right, to her own specifications. And Solomon's, obviously, but she's anticipating his preferences being moderately less stringent on her own, because Leila is a princess in the modern diva sense.
