You know what I crave?

Brunch.

A good hearty brunch at a decent spot where I can just sit, read the Sunday paper, and order, say, a 3-eggs farmer's omelette, a side of potatoes, whole wheat toasts, and a glass of OJ. Then finish it off the meal and the paper with a cup of coffee. Where's my Cafe Allegro, Coastal Kitchen, Glo's(!!!), Blue Star's Egg-cetera, my latest-brunch-crush Silent Heart Nest? Even the B'way Grill, sucks as it is in terms of the food, does make up for during brunch on a nice Summer day if you get to seat in the front.

Sadly, the American style brunch in Bangkok tends to take after the all-you-can-eat buffet model- think Vegas or Salty's. Expensive. You tend eat too much unless you can justify spending upward of $40 for brunch (especially in a city where you can get a quick lunch for $1-2). Most of these place is in a hotel, so that might explains something about the price. Considering the ingredients for what I wanna make is widely available, except may be potatoes and good cheese, I might have to kick my mom out of the kitchen to make myself something next Sunday.
