WE DID IT!

We did it! We raised $5,000 together! I would never have been able to meet this amazing goal if it wasn’t for the help everyone has given me, either by sharing the donation link around or telling their family and friends, or even donating themselves. When I set out to do this, I never imagined I’d be able to reach it. It’s a lot of money to take on, and it was my first fundraiser on my own - before this project I usually was the one to donate to various funds instead. But I’m proud of this organization, this project, and this team, and I wanted to try my hardest for a spot on it. I’m blessed to reach the goal and be able to join everyone on such an amazing trip!

For those of you unfamiliar with the cause, we’re raising money to build a new children’s center in Jacmel, Haiti. After the 2010 earthquake, many children all over were left orphaned. They’re living in tents and walking a mile to the current children’s center just to have something to eat. The center is just too small to help every single child to the best of their efforts, so we’re building a bigger, self-sustainable one. The last two years, we’ve been fundraising together to help this cause, and the volunteers who raise $5,000 or more get to go down to Haiti themselves and work on the children’s center construction. You can read more about it here.

However, there is another matter I’m reaching out to you with. As I prepare to make my way to Haiti, there’s a small hurdle in my path. The travel expenses for my humanitarian trip are pretty high. With how tangled up the economy is, nothing is all that affordable. Combing my round trip flights from Arizona to Miami and Miami to Port Au Prince, and the hotel in Jacmel all comes to somewhere around $1,500. That’s quite a big chunk of change! The problem is, I’m a college student who is still struggling to get a summer job. I need a little help from anyone with a little change to spare, to help me get to Haiti to work on such an amazing and worthy cause. Even if you just donate $5, it still helps. Anything helps, really! I would be eternally grateful for any help you can give. The money goes directly into my travel expenses and nowhere else. Even if together we raise $300, it helps me from slipping into debt while I’m trying to help the children of Jacmel, Haiti.

So, if you can help, I would greatly appreciate your kindness. I’ll even make little handmade thank you cards. Thank you for your help so far, and for continuing to help the cause.

The donations are secure and through Paypal services.
