In honor of having turned in my last paper proposal of the semester (that's paper proposal, people, not paper. Still gotta actually write the things), I'm taking advantage of my few hours of breathing room this afternoon/evening to finally upload pics of the crochet dolls I made of Ten, using
snuffykin's pattern. They were tons of fun to make, and I'm planning on doing the whole cast of characters!
Image-heavy post behind the cut!
First up, we have the Doctor before he had been fully assembled, sitting beside his bald head on my TV:
Eventually, he looked like this:
I made him a pair of specs out of a pipe cleaner.
Here's a close-up of his face. It came out a little blurry, so it's kind of hard to make out the embroidery.
The Doctor scales the Cliffs of Academe:
After that, he went to live with
nightrider101 in the place where she lives. But it's ok, because I made another one!
This time, I used fun fur for his hair instead of yarn. If you wind up going that route, be sure to take a look at PlanetJune's
tips for working with the stuff. It's a little challenging, but well worth the effort, I thought.
Here he is pre-haircut:
I increased the size of the jacket a little on this one, too--2 stitches wider than
snuffykin's pattern says. In retrospect, I'm not sure it was really necessary, but the first time around the jacket seemed a little snug. He still needs a tie and I need to do a better job of sewing his lapels down.
Also, I really need to finish the semester before I start any new projects!
