Hello everyone and welcome back to Hogwarts! I'm sure I'm as happy to see all of you again as you are to see me! I was so terribly busy this summer, what with getting introduced to all sorts of lovely people at the Ministry, that these journals must have simply slipped my mind. Still, what's done is done, and I hope I shall get to know everyone

You may notice that the disgusting pictures of kittens with which you so thoughtfully decorated the dormitory of Miss Black the Bewitching are now gone. Should you care to look, you will find them under the fire-grate in the room four doors down from the Potions classroom.

Well that was very kind of you to think of doing, Mr. Lestrange, as it gave me lots of wall space to practice a little charm that I've been working on! I do hope that you liked those kitty pictures - weren't they in such lovely shades of pink? - for you will be seeing rather a lot of pink in the near future.

Of course, I believe I have seen a countercharm to this particular trick somewhere in the library, but I am quite sure that the time you spend searching for it will be a valuable lesson about respect toward other people's property.

Oh Gilderoy, you are a dear and I was terribly disappointed to see the sad end to your duel! I thought you acted much more like a true gentleman though, and really, does silly spell-casting matter as much as that? Cheer up now, you'll get back at them someday!
