What if...Hillary...you know...lost?

Dec 03, 2007 15:33

Considering how many anti-Hillary t-shirts and other merch I've seen advertised at RedState, WorldNetDaily, FreeRepublic, etc...

...the disparity in references to Clinton and Obama in the most recent Republican debate (roughly 65 to exactly 0)...

...and how right-wing talker Sean Hannity has literally subtitled his radio show the "Stop Hillary Express"...

...among many other examples...
What would happen to the Republican side if Sen. Clinton...lost to Sen. Barack Obama?

I mean, forget Michigan and Florida (all the Democratic candidates have). Obama has a serious chance of pulling ahead of Clinton in Iowa and New hampshire, and staying there through South Carolina and Nevada. That kind of momentum plays, and suddenly 5 February comes and it's a free-for-all.

Anyway, what would the GOP spinmeisters do? They can't possibly hope that the scurrilous "psst...he's a Muslim!" rumours will carry the day, can they?

Or are Repubs counting on the Deep South to reject Barack for the reason that none dare mention, and for California Republicans to succeed in their rancid, ethically-bankrupt scheme to change the Golden State's Electoral College distribution?

'Cos, really, that would be the dirtiest trick since...well, the Southern Strategy.
