Quite so. There are so many fiddly steps and ways it could go terribly wrong. [And Bertie has probably inadvertently explored every single way that tea-making *could* go wrong.]

Just getting the stove lit is a hazardous task best left to professionals. Then there's the matter of how long to boil it. Boil it too long and one loses all one's water. And picking up the kettle once the water's boiling, that part is dashed tricky, too.
