A humorist whom I can't remember the name of now to look it up, but who's blog I came across looked at the abortion issue in a very poignant way that really helped me to stop straddling the fence and choose a side. He wrote that the issue isn't actually about abortion at all. The point where life begins is a meaningless distractor from the real issue that the opposition doesn't want us to realize. It's not an argument between Pro-choice and Pro-life like they want you to believe. "Pro-life" is a misnomer to make their position sound more righteous. It's really an argument between Pro-choice and Pro-no-choice. I think that is the underlying issue here. It's not about life or justice or righteousness at all. It's all about control. It always has been. So therefore, I have to be pro-choice, regardless of what my opinions regarding the point of conception might be, because above that, I believe in personal freedom and the right to choose over having the choice imposed on us.
