In which I abuse parenthesis...

So I was reading writing_light's post about not updating in a while, and it made me realize that I hadn't either (at least, according to my personal standards).

So, the most noteworthy things:
- I made my own wrap bracelet because I couldn't justify spending $184 on one I wanted from the moment I saw it. Mine's not quite as bright but it'll go better with more stuff that I wear, anyway. And I self-taught myself a lot of those knotting techniques in the process, so go me. =)

- Went and got my first SLR camera- a Canon Rebel XSi. I got tired of trying to take good pictures but being limited by my point-and-shoot (which is still a very good camera that I will keep, as it's not ideal to tote around the new heavy bad boy everywhere). I'm all aflutter about taking it out and training myself on how to take pictures the way I see them in my mind.

Also, when I went to buy it, there were two lenses I was deciding between. I finally picked one, came home with the camera and messed around with it for hours, and decided that I still wanted the other one in addition to the one I was doing pretty well with already. So the parentals gave me an early birthday present and I now have two lenses to work with. I get the feeling a lot of birthdays will be like this from now on... "what do you want for your bir-" "STUFF FOR THE CAMERA."

- And speaking of birthdays... I spent the last two days at concerts, hanging out with the guys from The Cab (yesterday's trip to SA for their show there was slightly last minute). I got to express birthday wishes, my own as well as some from afar, to one Alexander DeLeon as he turned 20. Things haven't been very stupendous for them recently, but his face lit up every time someone gave him a hug, told him happy birthday, threw their arm around him, his drummer conducted the crowd to sing to him before their set, etc. It doesn't make it all better but it's reaffirming to see it.

Sonny and Danny pulled through for me for photopasses both days, as well as getting me into yesterday's concert. So I have a good start with practice for concert photography. I'll probably pick out a few favorites from both nights (probably will have better ones from the House of Blues, where there was a specific area for photo/press passes, versus last night where I was trying not to fall off a damn speaker, but I know I have a decent crop from each). Just to show off what the camera can do. =P
