school and roommates and geckos, oh my!

*gasp* an update from me!
Things are pretty weird right now. I am no more than five days away from actually starting classes at a four year school. For those of you that don't know the background, this is my fourth attempt to actually start classes in a "real" college. Three times in the past, I was all set to go to a different college when something, usually outside of my control, prevented it. So at this point, every little potential for a problem is getting me reallly stressed out...like the fact that my loan still hasn't gone through (though they promise me it will once I send them a second copy of some dumb thing) or that I was supposed to get a physical before classes start (but when I called they said I had until the end of September).
I might be able to do the physical today at the walk-in clinic, but I'm kind of antsy about it. Yes, I'm a baby, I still get all worked up about them taking a blood sample. While sure, I end up hurting myself all the time at work or whatnot, it seems so masochistic to just offer up my hand and let someone injure me. It's my enneagram, I have a self-preservational variant. Sue me.
A couple weeks ago, we spontaneously became roommate-less. Our old roommate, Jon, had a seizure while driving to work and crashed into a street sign. He wasn't injured or anything, but he can't drive for 6 months, which is kind of a big deal if you live 40 minutes away from where you work. So, basically, we're in the market for a new roommate. John had listed the room online, and we had a response, who came by yesterday. As I feared, she was older than my parents and subsequently probably not the type of person who would get kicked up about the idea of living with a couple of newlyweds in their early twenties (If there is a type of person like that, she definitely wasn't it). Needless to say, while she seemed to like the place, she didn't sound too enthusiastic about moving in. Which is good, because I'm not too kicked up about having an old fart living here, either :)
Basically, I'm not excited about having a stranger living in my house, period. While John is quick to remind me that when you room with someone you know, you don't always get what you expect...at least you're able to HAVE expectations.
Ooo, in better news...a few weeks ago now, I was watching a movie when I noticed something crawling on the wall. And...it wasn't a bug. I thought it might be a salamander or something, but I really don't know my lizards. John was on duty, but our roommate was upstairs in the shower so I told him to hurry up, get decent and come take a look at this.Turns out, it's a hatchling mourning gecko (definitely not native to this continent). Someone in our building must have had a gecko that laid eggs...and at least one of the eggs hatched. And escaped. So, we caught it, and now we have a pet gecko. She is beautiful!
The end.
