I just stayed near the border of Germany (where I was living at the time), because I don't speak French at all. So, Colmar, Strasbourg...and I drove through the countryside around those places.
I would really like to go to Bretagne (am I spelling that right?), so perhaps some day I will go back and see more of France - maybe if I have someone who speaks the language to come with me...right now, I can't afford it anyway.
I have family that live in Colmar, so I know the city, and Strasbourg too. You're spelling Bretagne right :) I went there on holidays. It was lovely but very rainy. And if you come back to France, give me a shout, I wouldn't mind playing translator :)
I wish I had my photo albums here - I would totally post pictures if I could scan them in. Mind you, I did not look very good when I was in Colmar and Strasbourg, so maybe it's for the best that I don't have those photos. :P
I really thought it was beautiful around Colmar and Strasbourg. And as for Bretagne being rainy...well, I live in Vancouver right now, so I'm sure I'd be fine ;)
And I will totally take you up on that translator offer if I ever get enough money to travel again! I've banned international travel for 2011 (to try to get into a better financial situation)...but I'd be impressed if I went more than two years without taking a big trip. Usually there comes a point where I just snap and buy an plane ticket on a whim.
Ooh that's nifty. Am yoinking it. :) You've been to more provinces and states than me, a nd I just edge you out in countries. Though admittedly a number of the places I've only been to briefly (like, one day in port while on a cruise) or when I was 8...
If it makes you feel better, I had to click on state-names willy-nilly until the correct path down to Florida was highlighted - I couldn't actually remember what states we drove through. :P
I wouldn't mind seeing the grand canyon, but other than that, I actually don't like traveling in the states very much.
Though, that being said, my best friend wanted to take a wine-tasting tour of the Napa Valley, so if he ever showed up on my doorstep all set to do that - then I'd go along for sure.
