the first week back

so i guess i'm overdue for one of these things, huh.

been at PUC for over a week now. had a pretty depressing last day at home. church was alright. sat next to edrey and we talked it up, had potluck and discussed prison break with margaret, stuck around at church all afternoon for a recording session. stayed for AY, pretty much to be with the youth before i left. had a frustrating time trying to figure out how to hang out with everyone, since no one was willing to come together. ended up going to val and pam's and watched the number 23, trying to figure out how each of our birthdays added up.

10+26-8-5=23. crazy.

had breakfast with hazel, jon, and edrey at foxy's in glendale. good times, good meal. went home, packed up the car. left on a pretty sour note, b/c there was a small family argument. drove back up to PUC in 6 hours, minus a stop.

so back at PUC. orientation for working desk was tedious. highlight of the entire experience was seeing gayln bowers try to describe the clocking system, and seeing everyone get frustrated, and hearing the napa deputy crack sarcastic jokes, which were actually really funny. i can tell working desk is gonna be a sweet job. got some great coworkers, a chill environment, money. it's been great.

for not quite wanting to be here, it's been alright so far. what's made the first week back bearable:
*an empty dorm. no one but dorm staff's been around. the solitude's been nice.
*good caf food.
*a nice, long phone call from janer, my sis. called at the right time; needed her available ear.
*having time to write a couple of letters to faraway friends.
*spending some quality time with kara. having a random andre table conversation with three other people i just met (stephen, justin, and stormy. good stuff; i still remember). talking for an hour on graf swing, about life. spending time in her SA office, making fun of her decor.
*random desk conversations with tim and scott. no matter what it's about, it's good stuff. even if i have to break the five-minute rule to do so. sheesh, once you get me started, i can't stop. tim, stop being so responsive, haha.
*playing IMAGINiff with janza, marla, and yvonne, andy joining the second game. fun times. darn janza and yvonne's telepathic connection, and winning all their challenges. good to know that they pretty much have me figured out, too.
*a hike out into the back woods with danny and his dog, chilly. he needed a destressor, and someone to talk to. can't pass up an opportunity with a good buddy in nature. heard some great stories, as well as some good navigation tips. had fun mocking the movie anastasia afterwards, and learning how to peel an orange the fun way.
*finally finishing my presession notebook, and getting my napa high ID badge. i can officially student teach.
*having time to sit down and read. finished a book already (hey nancy. i finally finished the first novel. yeah, years later, haha. it was good stuff. geez, dirk's an asshole).

well. so here's to an upcoming school year. ::exhale::

here we go!

games, nature, work, movie
