That's Sarah French as Aouda, Nic Rockwood as Passepartout, Joel Warren as Detective Fix, and myself as Phileas Fogg in a scene from the top of Act Two of Around the World in 80 Days. We opened on Friday night to a very enthusiastic audience, and while tonight's crowd got a less sharp performance, they liked it more than the opening night crowd, giving us a standing ovation. Matinee tomorrow and then two very much needed days off. The only shitty thing about our second week of performances is the fact that we have a show on Wednesday night, the night prior to Thanksgiving. I'd rather do two weekends of Saturday doubles than come in, do one show, and then have a night off before continuing our weekend of shows. No one asked me.
Today I caught Seaside Music Theater's production of Always...Patsy Cline. I was very impressed with the show on a whole. It was really well-done, with my darling Becca Johnson showcasing her phenomenal skills as an actress as Louise. Darlin Barry is freakish in her ability to sound almost exactly like Patsy Cline, and it's easy to see why she's played this role six times to such success. The audience today was made up of 400 (I kid you not) Red Hat Ladies. They ate it up.
I had dinner afterwards with Becca, Mikey, Heather, Jonathan, Norberta, and Luigi. It was a lot of fun dishing and catching up. I really hope Bob gives me a contract soon for Beauty and the Beast, otherwise I'm going to have to look for another project. I can't wait around and then get screwed if he decides to hire someone else. I really want to work on this production, though--returning stars Michelle Knight, Ben Franklin, Nick Wuehrmann, David Schlumpf, Sean Campos, and Ben Simpson will be joined by Jason Dula as the Beast, Gary Cadwallader as Maurice, Lourelene Snedeker as Mrs. Potts, and Jennifer Avery as Babette. Talk about your SMT all-stars!
Well, I should really get some sleep. I was tired during the show tonight and should really rest-up for the matinee tomorrow.
I hope I see Charles tomorrow. Le Sigh.
