Hello from Vienna!!
IT'S SO HOT URG! I'm all sticky with sweat.
My first stop in Europe was Munich, then a two-week festival in Salzburg, and now I'm in Vienna for a few days before I fly back to California.
The festival kind of made mince-meat out of me and then spat me back out into some weird shape. I have learned SO MUCH. A lot of what I experienced wasn't good, but so much of it was experience-building and I think I came out stronger. I sat in on every masterclass and now I have pages and pages of notes on all major violin works, not to mention new really useful exercises and historically significant stuff I learned from :)
The kids at the festival were freaking amazing (I say kids but they all ranged from ages 10~30 or so). Most of them were there to train for international competitions, or have already won international competitions. There were also an overwhelming amount of little kids who could play the pants off of anyone. Of course, many of them were from Juilliard (at age 12 and stuff). If it weren't for all the less-than-desired happenings I went through, I think it would have been 100% amazing. Now it's just 80% amazing haha.
I've been seeing amazing palaces and gardens and churches and cathedrals like there's no tomorrow. As amazing as they are, I started getting lazy about taking church pictures cause they're all starting to look the same to me hahaha. Today I went to see the Stephansdom and the Schonbrun Palace! I went by the Mozarthaus they have here, but honestly, the prices were high and we already saw two Mozarthauses in Salzburg, so we kinda... skipped it. I never thought I'd pass up a Mozarthaus.
Ahhhhh 4 more days!
europe,
festival!
