So I was driving home in the rain and encountered a sad looking, pregnant or recently pregnant black dog. Her breasts were hanging down heavily and she was skin and bones. She was foraging for food and found an empty food wrapper to chew on. I keep a large bag of dog bones in my car for the strays and threw some to her. She ran away but then returned to eat them. It was so fucking sad. Why do random people let their animals breed? Houston destroys over 100,000 dogs a year and yet people continue to breed their animals. It is fucking ridiculous. I am all for professional breeders letting their dogs breed in order to advance quality, purebred dogs. But it's selfish to allow mutts to breed when we all know that they just end up abandoned on the streets like the dog I saw or else dead in shelters.
