Rush

Life just moves so fast sometimes, no?  Here we are already again at summer break. Helen Rose's last day of school was yesterday, and the county schools get out on Friday. Everyday seems to fly by me in a hurried rush and I never seem to accomplish my daily goals. Summer with two busy little girls doesn't look promising for getting things done, either.

I'm constantly amazed by parenthood; that something can be so exhilarating and frustrating at the same time. I'm so proud of how big and smart and mature Helen Rose is getting, but frustrated that she keeps growing out of her clothes! Yesterday morning she put on her sneakers (that I bought in October) and she said, "Mommy! These shoes are too small! They make my toes curl up!"  So we had to go shoe shopping yesterday. First time I'd gone to a shoe store with both of them. Once again, I understand and sympathize with my mother. Poor woman.  Those kids were like a couple of vultures, and every time I turned around, there was another box of shoes that they had to have! Wonder where they got that?

Helen Rose did end up getting a pair of sneakers, a pair of dress shoes that she could play in, and a pair of ridiculous jelly sandals with a big fabric flower on them. Sometimes it's like looking in a mirror. The really amazing thing was that we had measured Abby's feet on the little rug and I told her she wears a size 7. We were not shoe shopping for Abby, but she kept going back to a pair of (boys) Elmo sneakers. I told her no again and again. When we were finishing up with Helen Rose, Abby went over and pulled a pair of size 7 shoes off the shelf and put them on. The 7 was not the display shoe and it was not the box on top. I don't know if she just got lucky or if she's uber-smart. I'm going with uber-smart. I just had to buy her the shoes after that. It's okay, though. The sneakers she had were pretty gross and she can pass these down to Logan.

Off to the gym!
