Nevada Rep notes the play takes place in Verona and Mantua during a time of our own making. Indeed this Romeo and Juliet played all over time. Mercutio was really the most interesting character. MaryAnn Johanson (1) really doesn't like A Beautiful Mind while Gautaman Bhaskaran (2) does. I'm in the middle. It's a half-good movie. The first half is pretty good, an interesting portrayal of Cold War paranoia. In the second half Russell Crowe's performance is too derivative of Dustin Hoffman's Little Big Man (3) and Rain Man (4).

A Matter of Life and Death is the strangest courtroom drama I've seen. It probably does stand as one of Powell and Pressburger's finer works. It's the kind of movie Joss Whedon should have studied for inspiration for some Buffy scripts. I had to transplant the tomatoes (and other plants) last night. They're too big for the pots, even after I transferred them to bigger pots a few weeks ago. The problem with my garden is I have to navigate around fence posts and giant boulders in the ground. Some day I have to fix those obstacles, but that would involve disrupting the neighbors. Anyway, the business is being sold to an outfit that was in turn sold to yet another outfit not too long ago. Transfer date is supposed to be Feb. 1. I don't know how the plan is going.
