I voted first thing, once I'd walked the children to school. Voting always feels like such a grown up thing to do - far more grown up than bringing up three children, even, somehow!
The rest of the morning was a rush of ticking things off my list. Washed and dried my hair, then walked into town to get my new photos taken for my driving licence (the last one is now 10 years old so needs to be replaced). I had it done in a shop and the woman asked me to remove my glasses - I tried to argue but she insisted that the powers that be are asking for glasses to be removed now because of the glare from the flash which makes it difficult to see people's eyes. The shop was full and I wasn't up for more arguing so I went with it. Photos rather hideous - double chin and gormless staring eyes, and I think I look really weird without my specs on! - but at least my hair was freshly washed and that part of me at least looked lovely! *grin*
Went then to do my cleaning in the church hall, then home via Tesco for a few essentials plus some snacks to keep me going later!
Had an hour's rest in bed this afternoon. I don't think I really slept, but I felt rested for it anyway.
Took Felicity to Beavers at Milldale (the local scout campsite) this evening. The other two stayed with Mum so that I didn't have to drive backwards and forwards, or have two bored children in the car. While she was having a tremendous amount of fun I sat in the car, listened to a podcast and played with the internet on my phone.
Now we are all home and the children are all in bed. I'm setting myself up in the living room with the radio, snacks and laptop. I'm going to open up the sofabed and I've brought my duvet and pillows downstairs. This is where I'm stopping for the night now!
Once I've posted this I'm going to have a bath and get into my pyjamas, then snuggle down on the sofabed to sleep, setting my alarm for midnight. At that point I'll get up again, turn on the laptop and the radio and enjoy listening to the election coverage while keeping up with what's being said on Twitter, Facebook and Livejournal!
The children have all asked me to tell them immediately when I wake them up who has won - that is if we have a clear idea by breakfast time! I have to say 'Good morning, David Cameron/Gordon Brown/Nick Clegg/Hung Parliament' (delete as applicable!). Hehe! It is nice to see them taking an interest. One's high school had their own mock election today (as have probably most of the high schools in the country) and I'm very sorry to report that the Monster Raving Loony party stormed the vote! *g*
