It has been a super day today. A pretty much perfect mix of everything, really. And I find I'm too tired now to write about it in detail. In short, today has involved:
- Waking up after nine hours' sleep and realising all the children were still in bed!
- Sitting with Little Three and my cup of tea, once she got up, and having ages just chatting with her and having breakfast together on our own because the other two were still in bed.
- Actually getting all the children to do some homework.
- Making oaty plum crumble to have for pudding at lunchtime. It was the nicest fruit crumble I've ever made, and I've made a few in my time!
- Making the most enormous pot of soup out of all the vegetables I was given as a gift after our church harvest festival. There was enough for a bowl for me to have at teatime and 20 portions to go in the freezer. If I have soup as my main meal two or three times a week while the children are having their hot school dinner, it will save me lots of money for weeks to come!
- Bumping into
arky72 in Tesco, quite by chance, and having a quick chat in the doorway!
- Watching Love Actually while the children were out with their dad for the afternoon.
- Welcoming the children back with open arms because when I have a bit of time away from them I appreciate them so much more. It makes all the difference in the world.
- Reading to Little Three before bed, snuggled up with her on the sofa.
- Letting One stay up late and starting to watch Two Thousand Acres of Sky with her on dvd. It was her idea to watch those and I am delighted as they'll last us ages and it gives me a great excuse to watch them all again! We watched the first two episodes and are both hungry for more!
I am really tired now but ever so happy. This week I've had a bit of a turning point, I think, Had a phonecall which threw me rather, on Wednesday, but which gave me a much needed kick up the backside to sort myself out, basically, and have a good hard think about the way I am managing my time. I don't want to speak too soon but I think things might be changing round here for the better, thanks to a change in my attitude, and certainly today has been proof of that.
And now, bed and book, because a better sleep routine for me is one of the things I am working on! :-)
