Two weeks had passed since Kurt walked back into Blaine’s life, two weeks since Blaine left his wife, or rather, she left him, relocating to a upscale apartment, allowing Blaine to keep the stately home for himself and Kurt. Kurt had moved in just over a week ago and was in the process of re-decorating.
Blaine hadn’t found the courage to go back to work since the split, as his wife’s closest friends just so happened to be the wives and girlfriends of his work colleagues. If she hadn’t confided in her friends already, he would be very surprised. She had sworn to him before she left that she would stick to their planned story of Blaine’s reluctance to give her any children, as her last act of love for the man she had spent a large portion of her life with.
Kurt had made only a few appearances on stage since he had moved in with Blaine, preferring to let his understudy carry some of the burden that came with being a star. He knew however, that if he wanted to keep his spot, he would have to go back sooner or later.
He secretly wished that it would be later rather than sooner.
At this moment, Blaine was just enjoying the honeymoon period of his and Kurt’s newly renewed relationship, both of them spending increasing amounts of time in bed, rediscovering each other’s bodies, what made them both tick. Blaine has discovered that Kurt was extremely ticklish and would let out a rather feminine squeal when Blaine approached his sides or his feet, which Blaine had discovered were ticklish, quite by accident, when he had attempted to give Kurt a foot massage and ended up with a nosebleed and a lapful of a guilty Kurt.
Blaine lay there, listening to Kurt moving about downstairs, making phone calls to various interior designers he was on first name terms with, armed with Blaine’s credit card and swatches of colour. He heard the phone in his office ring, and was about to leave the comfort of his warm, Kurt-smelling bed and answer it, when he heard Kurt shout up.
“I’ll get it! Hello? No, this is Kur- Yes, sir…. No sir, I’ll go get him now…”
Blaine knew of only one person who could turn Kurt from the confident person he usually was to the meek, mild-mannered boy Blaine had met at sixteen.
Surely enough, Kurt appeared in the doorway, holding the phone out to Blaine.
“It’s your dad.”
Blaine breathed out, nodding and taking the phone from Kurt, putting it to his ear. “Father.”
“Blaine, what is this nonsense I have heard about you getting a divorce? And what is that boy doing there?” Blaine’s father sounded angry and bewildered.
“It’s not nonsense… It’s quite simple actually. She wanted children, I didn’t. She left me two weeks ago and moved out. And for you information, that boy has a name, and it is Kurt Hummel. He’s… helping me.”
“Help-Helping you?? How is.. fornicating with that boy in any way a help, Blaine? Please tell me!”
“Dad, stop it! I’m not a kid anymore, you can’t control me! Kurt and I…. we’re together. I was wrong to listen to you in the first place, I should never have broken up with him. I love him!”
“You don’t know what love is! You’re young, and confused, and I suggest you snap out of this before it upsets your mother anymore than it already has!”
“I’m not young, and I’m not confused, in fact I’m more sure of this than I was on my wedding day! If you want to cut me off, then fine Dad, I’ve got more than enough money to survive, and so does Kurt.”
Blaine smiled wryly. “He did what I was scared to do, he followed his dream. He’s a star now, and he loves me back. That’s more than enough for me.”
And with an air of finality, he hung up on the man who had almost ruined his life.

Kurt knocked on the door softly a short while later, opening it a few seconds later. “Blaine? There’s some post here for you, it’s from your lawyer…”
Kurt crossed the room to where Blaine was sitting at his desk, handing him the thick envelope and pressing a kiss to his temple.
Blaine took the envelope from him, opening it, and staring at the papers in his hand. “Divorce papers… she’s signed them already.” He looked up at Kurt, suddenly unsure of what to do or say.
Kurt placed a hand on his shoulder, rubbing gently. “Do what your heart tells you.” He watched as Blaine picked up a pen from his desk, signed his name on the papers and placed them back in the envelope.
He breathed out, feeling like a huge weight had been lifted from his chest. “I can’t believe it.. twelve years gone, just like that.” He clicked his fingers for emphasis, gazing into Kurt’s eyes.
“I want to marry you, Kurt.”
Kurt choked out a laugh, looking at Blaine like he was crazy.
“Blaine, you’ve been divorced all of two minutes. I’m not marrying you yet!”
Blaine scrambled over to where Kurt sat on the bed, grasping Kurt’s hands in his. “Kurt please, I’ve gone twelve years of being married to the wrong person, it’s taken me twelve years of waking up next to someone who isn’t you to realise this is what I wanted all along. I want to marry you, I want us to be together, for good this time.”
The younger man looked down into Blaine’s earnest face, feeling his resolve crumble. “Not yet. Give me- Give me time. Please. You owe me that.”
Confusion crossed Blaine’s face for a moment before he broke out into a grin. “So that’s a yes?”
Kurt smiles softly, leaning forward to press his lips to Blaine’s. “It’s a maybe.”
