This week's share includes bok choi, lettuce, a few springs of mint (across the former 2), Asian braising greens, braising greens, sugar snap peas, and snow peas.
Lou commented that he feels we haven't been getting as much as previous years, and I thought it always started out smaller, then we got more as it got more into the harvesting season. But I did look back at last year's, and we definitely aren't getting as much as before. Now with winter being a PITA and refusing to leave (which I reminded him about), there may just be a delay. We still have all the greens that we normally get early on, so hopefully it will improve.
As for how we did - well I used up the kohlrabi and one radish in salads on Tuesday, though the lettuce I used was not the one from the farmshare but the bagged one I had gotten before it started. We also ate the strawberries (though actually, I think Lou had most of those). I sauteed last week's peas today with some garlic and onions and it was quite yummy. We still have all the old kale, so I will try to braise that on Friday with the other braising greens (not the asian ones). Will possibly sautee the bok choi too.
Not sure what we're going to do with the mint. It was suggested by the farmshare to use it with the peas, but I'm meh about that. Lou said he had the option to pick 2 of the 3 kinds of peas, so skipped the shelling peas, which makes me sad. I like making that roasted red pepper and pea pasta salad, and that requires snow peas and shelled peas.
Need to start making more salad to use up the lettuce, too. Lou's already bored of salad tho, I can see it. But there's not much other use for lettuce, as he doesn't like it on sandwiches (unless we're at a restaurant), and otherwise I could use it as a garnish, but that's not really using it. Ah well, I'll have to get creative!
We still have the cloumage; maybe this weekend we can try mixing it with some of the hot pepper jam. We also still have the last half-dozen of eggs, I believe.
