I posted a
Dear Gnome this morning.
Let's start off with the good stuff!
Uma did RFK two weeks ago, and we did pretty well. Our new druid rocks as a tank, though she's got one at 70, so that might explain a lot of it. I had to bail after the end boss because IC needed Saffron (at 68!) to heal on the Maulgar fight, but she had already done the tubers quest and the escort quest, and they managed to 4-man the rest.
Saffy managed to help IC get Maulgar down, but we didn't have success with Gruul again. Too many melee, and some bad shatters in the beginning (one wiped out our MT healing group). The shaman shoulder token dropped, but I passed because she's only 68 and we still had people who could use the upgrades.
This past week, I skipped out on the Gruul's attempts because Alessandra had signed up to tank RFK! And with only one death (me, on a VERY bad pull, that was my fault entirely), we managed to get the whole thing done, tubers and escort and warrior quest and everything. I also respecced her to full Fury, and am learning how to tank better. I think I did okay, but right when I started asking the group how they thought I was doing as a tank, we had the bad pull, of course! Ah well.
Saturday we had Kara again, after cancelling it the previous week due to lack of healers. It was a mess (see Dear Gnome post), and we couldn't even get Moroes down.
Ah, crap, I forgot to post in my Dear Gnome my love for my Masquerade Gown. :(
So I went tree for Kara, since we had only 2 healers signed up (a pally and a priest). We begged our flists and in /g to get some more people, and managed to score a wonderful warlock friend and a druid who ended up having only 350 defense. Which meant when he was 2nd tank on Moroes, he went down when he got critted twice in a row. We ended up at one point with 3 priests (2 healy, one shadow), and we STILL couldn't get Moroes down. Next time, I'm enforcing my raid leadership on the Saturday group, and we'll put the 2 awesome druids on Moroes and the warriors can suck it on adds. (see Dear Gnome.)
Right after Kara, I respecced back to feral. Fortunately, it had been long enough that my respecs were down to 35-40g, so I was happy about that. I hopped on Saffron afterwards and worked on getting her to 70. She had dinged 69 while doing a PUG UB run earlier (which was amusing...66 warrior, 70 frost mage, 69 frost mage, 70 resto shaman, 68-turned-69 resto shaman. We had only bad experience, when my targeting got hosed on the hunter/druid boss and the warrior went down hella quick, but the rest of us managed to get them down with only losing one mage in the process. Woot!). I finished most of the Zangarmarsh quests out of Zabra'jin, and took all the ones I had skipped at Swamprat.
Then we had an SL run scheduled for 8:00 that night, with our good friends from NC. It did not go well.
We managed to one-shot the first two bosses...I have no idea how I managed to heal everyone through Blackheart, but I did! The makeup was 70 warrior, 70 moonkin, 70 warlock (IC guildie, though most of his toons are now in Night Breed, it's a long story), 69 rogue (hubby), and 69 shaman.
We wiped a LOT on trash tho. And after 4 or so tries on Vorpil, hubby and I gave up. I realize it was the first time the tank and moonkin had been in the instance. But we were tired, frustrated, and generally not having a good time. We'd even had to go out and repair. Fortunately for them, the warlock pulled in 2 people from NB, and they got Vorpil down on the next try, and then 3-shotted Murmur and got the key fragment.
Sunday I hopped on Saffron and finished all the quests I hadn't finished, and then started in on Terokkar. HATE HATE HATE Cenarion Thicket...it just makes me so sad. It wasn't as hard on Saffron as it was on Ruana, for some reason. Maybe because I stopped mousing over the bodies on the ground. Hubby logged over to his rogue, and realized he had actually fallen well behind me, as he was only a few bubbles into 70 and I was more than 3/4 of the way. Well, he has been playing his hunter like mad (she's 63 now, and is having terrible luck with the drops he wants in SP. Considering the awesome luck he had in HR and BF, it's only fate), so that's also likely why. I helped him with some of his elite/group quests, and then I did some of the earlier quests, and dinged turning in Terokkarantula, and then logged over to send money to Saffron so she could buy her mount.
Only to get dragged into playing Ruana, because someone asked for more people with SMV group quests. They've been sitting in my log FOREVER, and we quickly got a group of 5 together to bang them out. Only, we had no healer. Our prot pally, our spriest, hubby's mage, a hunter, and me. So I volunteered to put on my healing gear, but not respec, and heal the 5-mans. And we tore through them, even doing the pre-quests so I could catch up to everyone on some of them. We did have to do a few of them a couple of times, as hubby left and we got a rogue in to replace him, and he needed one we'd done already. We ALSO went and finally finished Deathblow to the Legion, which I'd had for MONTHS and hadn't completed, as the last time I tried it, Socrethar was bugged. We had to do that twice, as it didn't complete for the spriest, who didn't have his tablet with him. Once he hearthed and got it back, it was done.
Now all Ru has left for quests are heroics, dailies, and one old-world one (to kill Rivendare).
(oh yeah, hubby and I duoed Live Strat. It was tougher than Dead on the trash, so even though he got a metric assload of Runecloth for his Bag O Mounts fund, we'll likely not duo it again. He did get that nice rare enchant however.)
So Ruana got her
Verdant Gloves, but I've been using my
Gloves of Dextrous Manipulation and I may keep doing it. They're higher on Emmerald's chart for tanking than the Verdant Gloves, but I definitely need to put some better gems in them.
I love my
Masquerade Gown. I'll admit it, I'm a snob, and wanted to wear only leather healing gear. But it is pretty, and since I heal so rarely, I finally decided to break down and save it from being sharded. She now has cloth shoulders and the lovely Gown. That proc just ROCKS, and it goes off ALL THE TIME. Even when buffing. I decided to take out one of my +healing trinkets while we were doing the SMV quests and pop in the Bangle of Endless Blessings I got on my last Bot run, just to see how much mana I could get back with a dress proc, bangle use, and self-innervate. And then if the Meditation kicks in from the bangle....omg, lovely, lovely mana.
So that was Sunday night. Monday night, we didn't have a game (taking a week break), so hubby and I scrounged up an SL run for his rogue and my shaman. We had two awesome (fire) mages with us, and one of IC's lovely tanks. (we had a warlock, who was waiting on his arena buddy to show, but the rogue was an hour late so the warlock was just about to come with us when the rogue logged in, doh!) SL went great, except for Blackheart. It takes so long for my heals to go off I'd get interrupted (unlike the previous night). He also used my first ever Bloodlust, dammit! And then used it again on one of our other tries. So one of the mages brought in his tree, and he was able to hot everyone up with lovely lifeblooms and rejuvs, and then swapped back. We got Vorpil down with only one teleport, and one death - the other fire mage, IIRC. Murmur went well, though hubby died because we'd been telling him to run out on the booms and missed on the last one, so he stayed in. Nothing good dropped for Saffron, but Bang got a gun upgrade and a dagger upgrade. We logged out with him 2 bubbles from 70.
Which he got last night, and Monday morning Saffron also had the gold in hand and bought her mount and skill. But DAMN, that mount is slow! Fortunately I have the rest of Terokkar to do, and then all of Nagrand, SMV, Netherstorm, and Blade's Edge left for her to pick from. Blade's Edge will wait until she's Queen of the Ogres, but we can easily do Terokkar and Nagrand with the rogue and me.
I've started collecting a spell DPS set instead of a melee dps set for Saffron, since she can't hit for shit anyway. I DE'd all the old stuff, too. I *also* made two Imbued Netherweave Robes with the spider silk we got while doing the spider quests, and got ZERO skill ups. So she's still at 372/375. qq She'll get a respec after 2.3 goes in, but may go all resto. Not sure.
So now she just needs SV, Arc, and then BM and Ruana will no longer have to respec, huzzah! I may try to get Saffy in on some of the weekday runs at first, since they're sharding a lot of gear and it will all be upgrades for her.
I'm missing Gruul's Lair tonight with both Saffy and Ru, since Thursday night is my BB night. I know Tiren's disappointed I won't be there, but they'll deal. SM isn't starting until 8:00, and we start Gruul's at 9:00-9:30, so there's no way we'll be done with SM that quickly!
Friday night we'll be going back to Kara with the Tuesday group, and they'll probably try to finish it off on Monday, but I will likely be at the new Hollow Earth game.
Oh yes, and Saturday is the D&D game, and Sunday is the new D&D game. Thankfully, I am off on Monday!
